The original Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX (bigger battery size) smartphones along with HTC's One S are finally receiving their Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. About time right guys?

Motorola Droid RAZR & RAZR MAXX

The Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX were introduced last year, 2011. Packing decent specifications for a phone from 2011 which includes a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, PowerVR SGX540 GPU, 1 GB of RAM and a 4.3" Super AMOLED qHD (960*540) display, the Droid RAZR was a pretty sweet device with an astounding 7.1 mm thickness (yes, that thin!), and a body made to withstand abuse. Additionally, the device packed 16 GB of expandable storage and an 8 MP rear camera capable of 1080p Full HD video recording as well.

The RAZR MAXX was the bigger brother to the RAZR only in terms of battery size (and thickness as well). Every bit same as the Droid RAZR save for the larger battery (3300 mAh v/s 1780 mAh), thickness (9mm v/s 7.1 mm) and weight of the device (145 grams v/s 127 grams).

Both these devices are receiving their Android 4.1.2 updates OTA.

HTC One S

The HTC One S was the 2nd in command to the flagship HTC One X (not One X+) smartphone when the One series was launcher originally earlier this year, 2012. The One S carried the brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset with two Krait CPUs (for a dual core SOC) and the Adreno 225 GPU. In many ways, this dual core chipset was nearly as fast or faster than the quad core Tegra 3 equipped elder brother, HTC One X. The One S had reduced feature set, which includes a slightly modified (we find, uglier) design, smaller display size of 4.3" v/s 4.7" as well as a lesser screen resolution of qHD (960*540) v/s HD (1280*720) in the One X.

Both devices were launched on Android 4.0 ICS and we are glad to report that the One S is receiving the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update as we speak. Here's the improvements, quote Android Central:

  • Android 4.1.1 and HTC Sense 4+
  • Enhanced UI with better performance in Camera
  • New landing page and event/map view in gallery
  • Power management improvement
