Hi Folks,

Saw this News in Gsmarena.

"BGR India is reporting that Motorola Mobility will be shutting down operations in the Asia Pacific region, except in Australia and Korea. This decision was made after Motorola laid off 20 percent of its work force and decided to shrink its operations in Asian countries.

It is being said that Motorola will continue to sell products until stock lasts and continue to operate their service stations. Motorola will now be concentrating on making fewer devices and dropping the low-end ones.
Considering Motorola's general unpopularity in this region, the move won't come across as a huge shock to anyone, except for maybe those who own a Motorola device or were looking to buy one in future."

Having used in the past Motorola Defy it is very sad if these rough and tough phones are not going to be produced any more in India.

Personally when I started using mobiles in the early 2000's the general talk was that Motorola software was buggy, but android changed that because we can install custom ROM's modify the software how ever we wanted. Motorola also has some specific models which cater to specific needs like Defy and Defy+ which are water proof phones and which can be handled roughly. The earlier flip model Motorola Razr series which was stylish and well ahead of times, even today it would not look out of place. The Droid Razr MAXX which has the longest battery life of all android models.

It would be a pity if they do not cater to huge Asian market like India and China. I also doubt about the kind of support and service they provide for models whose stock they do not have.

Are they going to shut down their R&D Hub in Hyderabad and testing office in Gurgaon? Any idea?

Any body of your friends or links working. Please check.

Oh no :(

I remember my first mobile (Motorola StarTac back in 2000) followed by Moto RAZR (mid 2005), until I moved to Nokia N900 (maemo) and currently on HTC HD7 (WP7)... loved both those Moto devices!
