hmm.. yes isobuster does it....

and a host of others... but today i was reading some blogs and found that ms itself has an app to do just that. Turns out microsoft has an unsupported app by the name of "Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel for Windows XP" which does just this. It mounts an image and gives it a drive name. Basic interface with no setup instructions.
The tool apparently is not mentioned in the microsoft download search also but finds a mention in msdn faq
Anyway if you wanna still test it then you can do so from

HERE

Alcohol 120% is easily the best.
After Alcohol loads it's own virtual drive, you don't need to run the program to mount/unmount image files. Rather, you can do it directly through Explorer. Just like this.

If I am not mistaken the Virtual Cd-rom plugin comes with the Autopatcher Xp.

I personally prefer Daemon tools and find them the best as they support a vast range of formats and is a freeware.

I use Daemon tools. It really easy to use it and u dont have to run the program in background. Suggested evryone in my hostel.
