Hi Friends,
Today I am facing strange problem my mouse is not working properly it is not working smoothly frequently stuck in some place on screen and after several attempts it is responding. The problem started while I was browsing today afternoon.I scanned my pc with Norton internet security and ad-aware and I disconnected my modem and uninstalled my mouse driver after restarting again the mouse driver installed by Windows xp sp3 automatically when I reconnect the mouse (logitech optical USB based) but nothing works still the same problem.Even I tried without mouse pad (on the wooden table). The mouse only three months old help me to resolve this problem.

first make sure that its properly connected to the ps2 port

some kind of loose connections gives this kind of problem s with mouse being stuck on screen ,

see if the light is glowing under the mouse

if all this doesnt work ,try updating the software , if not then as suggested above time to get a new one!! :P

Ok one question first - Why did you disconnect the modem to test your mouse? :P

Try these things:
1. Remove the cable and check if all the pins are well and intact.
2. Check the PS2 port for any possible obstruction (dust, broken pin etc)
3. Reconnect the cable again and check.
If even this doesn't work, try arranging another mouse and test if it works well before buying a new one.

I don't understand why all of you are telling that his PS/2 port could have issues. He's using a USB mouse!!

@OP - Try using the same mouse on another system and see if you still have issues. If it works fine on other systems, something is screwed up in your system. Post back as to what happens and we'll see what can be done. You can also try this. Keep the task manager open and see if any application is using your HD in bursts. Keep an eye on the memory usage and also the CPU usage. Have you tried installing the Logitech drivers from their website? If not, try it.

BTW, isn't this supposed to be in the Hardware Zone?
