Movie editing software

Hi All,

I need suggestions for a good movie editing software.. It should have the following features..

1. Basic cutting and joining of movie files..
2. Adding special effects to movie as in wedding movies :)
3. Should support different formats (AVI, JPEG, GIF, WMV etc)

Is there any robust software with all above features.... ?? Please suggest..
 
Adobe Premiere will have everything you need and more....

And what do you mean by special effects.... Cause if you mean basic transition between clips then that can me done in Windows Movie maker....

Effects like.. rain of flowers/candies etc in the movie or playing a part of movie in a different frame, I had a similar software quite a while ago.... just forgot the name.. :(
 
^^ This is not what I meant.. I was just looking for a simple movie editing software that could introduce special effects like clouds/flowers/hearts in a movie. I had a similar software that I got while downloading device drivers for my webcam.. just forgot its name.. it was something like "Cyber link" software....

I think you are talking about Cyberlink Power Director. I used it sometime ago....it is near perfect for home use.

Most OEM software with any handcam also fulfil the purpose, but Powerdirector is still recommended , if you wanna give professional tocuh without much hassle.

Coudnt get my head around Premiere though!
 
Thanks everyone for the replies.... For now Cyberlink Power Director will do the job for me.. If anyone knows a better option, please suggest.. :)
 
The Video Editor that comes with the Nero Burning ROM package is supsrisingly functional. I think it's called Nero Vision. It satisfies all your requirements. Also, it usually comes free with the drive.

Cyberlink Power Director is quite good, but if you want an alternative you could use Ulead DVD Factory.
