So all of a sudden, my firefox starts acting up. My bookmarks are lost, the temp restore options do not work, a backup created a year back does not work too. I uninstalled the 3.6.8 version, and install the 4.0 beta 2 version. Same issue temp restore options dont work, nor does the back up file of a year back works.

Any options?
 
Uninstall 4.0 beta 2, keeping your bookmark files (.html & .json) intact.

See if you are able to install (get hold of) an older version of FF. On installing it, import your bookmarks, verify the data and export it back again.

Next: Uninstall the older version of Firefox and install the latest (stable) version.

Once that's installed, try importing your bookmarks.

Simple troubleshooting. :)

Forget Everything else

Its a online Bookmarking Service Where ur Bookmarks are stored On their server

If FF Crashes or Bookmarks are Gone...

Simply install the Add-on,Sync It (Very secure login process,U Need to Provide a Password and a Pin) And Voila!! Bookmarks All Restored

Also Has Bookmark Sharing and rating facility
