Mozilla Revleals 'Junior' - A Browser For iPad
Mozilla has created a new prototype browser for the Apple iPad called 'Junior' . The Firefox Junior offers new user interface and features .
According to Mozilla , the iPad offers best browsing experience among tablets , but its still "pretty miserable" . This led them “reinvent the browser for a new form factor.â€
The Firefox for the iPad uses the same WebKit rendering engine used by Safari for the iPad due to Apple's iOS restrictions , but it offers better user interface and more features .
The Junior doesn't have any URL bars , tab switchers , menu etc and shows website in full screen . There are just 2 overlaid buttons under left and right thumbs . The two buttons are Back (on the left) and Plus (on the right).
Forward and refresh buttons are hidden next to the back button, while next to the Plus button there are hidden Share and Print buttons.
The plus button allows you to go to new places. On top you have something that combines tabs with history – thumbnails that let you switch between the sites you’ve visited recently, but they are not exactly tabs.
It also has the ability to create separate user accounts , which keeps login details of various users of the device and eliminates the need to enter the login details each time .
However, its still a prototype and hopefully will graduate to proper product and land up on Android as well .
