Mp3 player not getting detected!

I recently bought one of those Chinese mp3 players(256MB).It was working fine for a month or so.But now when i connect it to the comp it does not get detected.I am using Win XP Sp2.
Although sometimes it gets detected when i press a button or 2 on the player, but most of the time it remains undetected. But once it gets detected there are no problems in the data transfer. All the remaining functions are fine. The problem is just with the detection of the hardware.What should i do...??
 
Chinese products cant be trusted.

Many of my friends have it in college but they havent faced such problems.
Many using it past -5 months.
One is using it since a year.

Did u drop it or do u handle it roughly.
 
had the Same prob here. SP2 had removed coupla drivers or something, so i had to install some windows drivers separately.

Or your prob might be a loose pin in your mp3 player./ USB cable problem.
 
I don't think its the problem with the drivers cos I haven't changed anything in my windows installation.What if its a loose connection with the pins. how can i rectify the problem
 
Yes i did that.On other comps also i have the same problem. Sometimes it gets detected without any problems but somethimes it does not get detected at all.
