I am using MS Outlook 2007 in my office. I have setup notification to be displayed when an email has been sent to a particular mailing list. I have a folder for that mailing list where the mail directly lands but before that i get a notification, small preview of from ,to, subject on bottom right corner of screen. I want to turn this off for this particular mailing list. I dont remember how i turned on :ashamed:

I dont think so alert can be turned off for particular mailing list although you can turn off the alert by right clicking the outlook icon and deselect 'Show New Mail Desktop Alert' option.

Tools - Options - Preferences - Email Options - Advanced Email Options - Display a New Mail Desktop Alert (check the box off)

See, by default alerts come for mails that come in Inbox but mails alerts do not come for mails that land in say Friends folder etc. But there is one folder for which i did keep the mail alert on but i have no clue how i did that and now want to turn that off.

If you are moving the mails to say 'Friends' folder using Client rules in Outlook, then the mail acutally lands in Inbox before the rule is applied, so the alert cannot be disabled for the 'Friends' folder alone.

^ did you make a rule to display mail alert for that folder?

Yeah true what you are saying that it lands in inbox and then moved to Friends folder but notification does not come for them. As i said, i am 100% sure if only enabled for that particular folder.

If its not displaying for other folders and the 'Desktop Notification' is being displayed for only one folder, check your rules and see if you have enabled 'display a Desktop Alert' in it.

My suggestion confuses me even more...I have a similar setup and I am not able to disable desktop alert. I use outlook 2003.
