MS to Remove Pre-Installed software for $99

They are calling them the signature editions . They were offering signature edition only for new PC's but now they are offering this feature for old PC's too with a fee of $99 . They themselves are saying that Signature systems start up 39 percent faster, go into sleep mode 23 percent faster, and resume from sleep a whopping 51 percent faster compared to normal Editions.

they should give support for linux formats like ext 2,3,4 out of the box.

Isn't doing a fresh OS install one and the same thing? I mean when the laptop is bought. Won't that remove all the bloat?

So only the "sig editions" and "pirated editions" are free from crapware ?

Now I know what killing my old laptop :|

^^ Not unless you have a unmodified retail/OEM copy of the OS, but in most cases, only restore disks that are provided with branded laptops/PC's usually contain the bloatware as well.

The bloat being removed was OEM/manufacturer installed sw, as LN pointed out.

These were sold exclusively with machines being sold on the official MS store. Bloat is not something that MS can control on products not sold by it. So stop hyping things.
