Guys,
I bought a MSI 785GM E65 DDR3 mobo about a week back. Now, everything is working perfectly fine. Unlocked the 2 dormant cores on the Phenom II 550BE. Only problem I am having is screen just goes black every once in 6-7 hrs and then I have to restart PC. I am guessing one of the unlocked cores maybe unstable? Need advice from you guys :)
I thought of increasing the voltage a bit since all the voltages are on 'Auto' but another problem I am having is, I am unable to change the CPU/RAM voltages since they are all greyed out.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance :hap2:

Just use +/- buttons to change voltages, they would be displayed in gray when on auto.

use Prime95 blend test to check whether the unlocked cores are stable.

Thanks for the reply. Firstly, LOL at me for not knowing how to change the voltages :P . I increased the VCore by 0.025V to stabalize the 4 cores. Do you'll think that is enough or should I add some more? I am scared to test it with Prime or Orthos since I am using stock cooler and once you unlock all 4 cores your temp sensors don't work, so just incase my CPU temps soar above normal then my CPU will fail to shut down n may get spoiled. Correct me if I am wrong. Also, even after increasing the vcore now, after 2-3 days the same problem occured 1ce more. PC just gave me a black screen and i had to restart. What do you'll think is the problem?

-Thanks again :)

Perhaps, one of the cores which you unlocked might be bad. Try to just unlock one of the cores rather than both. Check whether your bios allows you to select enabling one of the cores, os that you could use your processor as a tricore processor.

Though core temps dont work, cpu temperature should. Just keep them below 60. You could use something like hwmonitor to monitor cpu temp or use AMD Overdrive.

You should also have some feature in bios which would either shutdown the computer or give you audible alert if your cpu temp goes beyond the temp you set. Try that.

Is there any way to check if a core is bad or not? Rest, I will try and post here. Thanks.

Just disable one of the cores from bios which you unlocked and test with prime95. That's the way to check wheter your core is stable or not. Always keep a tab on temps with hwmonitor or overdrive(it should temp0 or the temp which changes heavilywith prime95 load).

You could try upping the voltage a bit if the core is not stable.

Tried both, HWMonitor and AMD Overdrive. It shows temperature of Core0,Core1,Core2,Core3 but they are all wrong like 5C, 3C n all LOL and they don't even change when I test with Orthos/Prime, so basically conclusion is Temperature sensors not working.

EDIT: Okay Bingo! I tried Speedfan and its showing me Temp1 which seems to be increasing when I test it with Orthos. But, it seems to be stressing only 2 cores at a time? :|

EDIT 2: Tried stressing cores with OCCT and it stresses all 4 cores, but temperature goes to about 60-65C under load and I am not really comfortable with that :O Guess I may have to buy a new cooler. If the same problem I mentioned earlier occurs again I will try to increase Vcore a bit more. If its still not stable then I will go to Tricore as per your suggestion.

1 more thing I wanted to ask you is: Is it necessary to increase NB/SB voltages too to stabilize the cores?

If prime95 fails large FFTs you could try that. I am not sure though. Somebody could answer that.

Great idea to get a decent cpu cooler, 65 is way too high.
