Graphic Cards MSI HD 5670 1GB or Sapphire HD 5670 1GB

Hi,

My budget is around 6.5K for a GPU,

1>Which GPU is better MSI HD 5670 1GB or Sapphire HD5670?

2>My system remains ON for at least 24 hours at a time, so I need a GPU that runs very cool,

Which among the 2 runs cooler at idle and load conditions?

For 6.5K could I get a better DX11 card?

3>Lastly I need to upgrade my PSU, my budget for a PSU is 4K, so which is better(efficiency, handling load etc.)

Corsair VX450 or Tagan Stone Rock TG500-U37 500 Watt or FSP Epsilon 80 PLUS 500 Watts or Tagan Stone Rock TG600-U37 600Watts

4>I don't know much about PSU's so please tolerate my silly Q's :D, suppose I use a 750W PSU but my system needs only 400W, would using a 750W PSU damage my system? Would only the 400W drawn from my PSU be considered in the billing, or the full 750W.

Corsair VX450W

or

FSP Epsilon 80 PLUS 500W

Grab any.

Higher wattage of PSU, better, as ur efficiency is maximised.

PowerColour PCS+ HD5750 1GB GDDR5 @ 8.4k

This card has non-reference cooler and is very cool.

Else, get a Sapphire HD5670 512MB GDDR5 @ 5.6k, no point on 1GB, 1GB doesn't even help a HD5750 in performance.

Generally sapphire card is considered to be of a better quality. also sapphire has a 3yr warranty and MSI 2 yrs (not sure though). Also if u are gettiung the card from abroad then sapphire (as per some folks experiences in TE) honors warranty in India also if u get a consent from the intl customer care

If u buy the toxic edition of the sapphire...u never have to worry about temps:)...its comes with a very good custom cooler

for 4k...u can get the vx450 which is great but not sli ready. I have a TAGAN 600 watt which is SLI ready and costed me 4k

no running a 750w PSU on a PC requiring 400 watt doesn't damage ur comp:)...the power is sucked as per requiremnt

i saw some vapour x edtions from sapphire on lynx if u want a card that runs cooler you can have a look at it. PSU as people have suggested is a toss up there was some one selling a one month old vx450 on the forums so if you dont mind that you save a few bucks there.

is msi 5670 is overclocked edtion ?if it is then better go for and prices of both brands are approx same and both brands are of 3 years warranty as i am using right now a msi card

Thank you for the suggestions,

@compaddict, can't spend 8K on the GPU mate, budgets pretty low :(

Have a look at the soldering quality on the 1300W Tagan PSU :O

And as mentioned if there's hardly any difference between the 512MB and 1GB versions, I can add that extra 1K saved and buy a Corsair VX550W,
I've not heard of FSP, is it on par with Corsair?

But I'm confused b\w the MSI and Sapphire versions of the 5670.

^Thanks, one last thing, why not the 1GB one instead of 512MB, the difference is only around 1K, you said it doesn't even help a HD5750 in performance, I didn't quite understand this.

He meant that the HD5750 has a 1GB DDR5 by default but not much of a performance difference due to the extra VRAM.

The HD5670 has a 128-bit memory interface. Unless u play VRAM hungry games like the GTA-IV no point in going for the 1GB HD5670 card.

Sapphire is ATI's premium partner and more often than not offers the best ATI cards. Grab this deal :D

Ok I'll buy the Sapphire 5670 512MB version,

As for the SMPS I have decided to go for the GlacialPower GP-AL650AA, 650W at just Rs.4305 !!! I found a review of this product,
GlacialPower GP-AL650AA 650 W Power Supply Review | Hardware Secrets

Does anyone here use GlacialPower SMPS?

For ur needs you dont need 650w. The Glacial has only 2 yrs warranty
Get a Corsair VX450 - 3.8k --> 5yrs warranty with enough headroom for your future upgrades.

Yea, but I don't mind spending Rs.500 more on a SMPS which offers 200W more than than the Corsair VX450,

Plus since I have a Crossfire board I will definitely be going for Crossfire with Sapphire HD5770 a few months from now, so I need a SMPS which can handle these loads,

So how good is the GlacialPower GP-AL650AA, does anyone here have any experience with GlacialPower SMPS?

GlacialTech has only 2yrs warranty.

Also you must consider the internal components of a PSU.

The VX450 uses top notch components and uses japanese capacitors.

5yrs warranty is great. You have to consider capacitor ageing etc..

VX450 has got rave reviews. Chk them out.

Edit: Hmmm. Crossfiring with HD5770 and HD5670. Plz update all ur components. If you have the budget go for a Corsair VX550-5k.

As you are considering two low power consuming cards.

The max power consumption of the HD5670(70-75)+HD5770(100-108) ~ 180w. So it should suffice IMO.

For Crossfire keep a 650W PSU. Sure others will recommend good PSUs. Wait and see.

Though what is your overall configuration. Update your signature. Also you were interested in a HD5670, where did hte HD5770 come from..? It would be better to match both cards when going multi GPU..!
