Okay Ihave the hp 1130n pc with the MSI RS480 mobo.Since Hp haven't released the latest bios I used the one from MSI and evrything is good except for the temperatures, they seem to have shot up by 20c(earlier max was 55c now its something in the 69-70c region!),I suspect this to be a bug.Coz no way can the temperatures on a venice be so high, that too at stock voltage!

Any suggestions?Using the earlier 3.2 bios(Hp one) the highest temp reported was 55c after many hours of P95).Since I made no hw change to the pc,this must be a bug.Anyone else noticed this?

Probably temperature reporting bug. Maybe u shud open up the machine and touch the HSF to check if its any hotter!

even my msi neo2 has some temp bug.. load temps of 60c while the heatsink is barely warm

Yeah seriously, that's the best solution. 70 degrees celsius will be quite hot I assure you :)

The main problem is that due to this bug the fans go into overdrive and the comp sounds like a jet engine.Maybe thats the reason Hp haven't released this bios to the public yet since their bios is nothing but the MSI one with a different logo and some options disabled.

Use speedfan to control the fans ;). Not that big a deal!

Okay so I guess no worries then.Using the earlier BIOS I had reached only 54-55c after 13hrs of Prime 95.Three are fan settings in the msi bios that help take care of the situation.

MSI boards invariably have this problem.

Even the Nforce 1 board i used for a few days reported 75c CPU Temp !!!!

Hmm, even my old MSI board (dunno model, nForce2 based) which I used with a XP2000+ reported very high temps, dont' remeber them exactly.

BTW Sid, looks like your doing great in Hammond, howz your new PC ?

The temp sensor is screwed for sure.I used CPU burn and lo and behold the sensor dutifully showed 76C!I touched the HS: it was barely warm.

I was originally perplexed by how hot I thought the CPU temp was 50+ no load and 65 ish with 100% load which I felt was way too hot. Add to that one of the sensors that Speedfan was reading at 118C which is just ridiculous. So i upgraded the cooling system and made a few case mods and brought the temp down about 10 degrees but it is still says it is hotter than it should be when I run prime95 for a while it reads about 59C so I touched the Copper heatsink and it feels cold. I am thinking like others have suggested that this is just a sensor problem with MSI motherboards. Has anyone had success with recent bios upgrades fixing this?
