MSI Support - Horrible

I have purchased an MSI X99A SLI Plus motherboard in January. It was all swimming till recently, when the motherboard decided to give-up ghost. (The red light issue). I tried everything, and it was clear that the motherboard was at fault.

Thus began the story.

I looked up the MSI website for support information, I was greeted by the welcoming message in red, which said:

This region is not covered under MSI authorized Global Travel Performance Assurance.

So much for that, I thought.

Now, There were a lot of number of different locations listed. That sort of assured me. Being in Hyderabad, I called the number that was listed, and to my utter surprise Regenersis India Pvt. Ltd said it was not the service centre. When I confronted the already confused lady saying that I had a motherboard that was faulty, she cut the call.

I called again, (from a different number) and instead of saying MSI, I said I had a problem with my motherboard. I think the word 'motherboard' :yum::yum:was the switch that lights the cognitive aspects of their single celled brains.

This time, she said she did not know what MSI was, and transferred the call to someone else who said that I have to wait for 15 to 20 days before I could bring my motherboard there. He said that it was the process time.

The numbers of a couple of other cities also yielded the similar responses or none at all. One bloke even suggested that I go back to the seller to claim warranty :eek::eek:

So, I called the 1800 120 6080 (toll free) number. They said that they were not sure if they were indeed the support centre for MSI still. (The IVR Call flow had options for Asus, Gigabyte, and all, but none for MSI) I can only assume that they were under contract which has not been renewed (or under the process of renewal).

I raised a few tickets on the MSI support website, but I am doubtful if I will receive a response.

In the meanwhile, I am stuck with an expensive motherboard that doesn't work. An Intel Core i7-5820K processor that is working but now useless along with 64GB of Ram, a watercooler, and a stunning black Corsair Case.

Bottom Line:
Call the customer service claiming for warranty before you buy the product.

For those of you who want to have fun claiming warranty for MSI: Here are the contact details:

Our NEW service partner Regenersis will only be ready around 2016 mid-October. So it was just a run up to update the site. As so many people are looking at it, we decided to remove everything. For the time being, only Aforeserve is available in Bangalore.

That reminds me of my horrible MSI GTX 560 Ti Twinfrozer experience. The Card was brand new (though more than 7 days old) failing to boot up, they replaced it with another DOA graphics card. After again claiming RMA they returned it with No change. The whole process took about 3-4 months. Never Bought MSI since then.
Digicare used to handle MSI support back then.

Aforeserve in my case, Sent me back my dead 6950 four times , the fifth time i got a dead 7950, luckily for me the 6th replacement despite looking dead by the looks, was working. Entire thing took more than 6 months. I dont understand why people buy MSI anymore.

Anyone with a dead MSI product should just wait out and try their luck? Even those who put their money on hyper expensive boards?

I did not know of this. I was looking for a LGA1151 board and I had few options. I wanted to go in for an Asus, but that was sadly out of stock. I do not think I will ever again buy an MSI. Almost 30k on the board and it fails in half a year and then the pain of replacement!

PAST EXPERIENCE WITH AFRORESERVE MSI (September 2016)
This is the third time gave my motherboard for RMA.Got the replacement board today with broken usb 3.0,paper cover, used marks.
1.RTAA-15B20001
2.RTAA-14B18005
3.RTAA-16822028

1st RMA it was for BIOS issue

2nd it was for lan port issue.I had to send three times in one month and on the 3rd time they were giving lame excuse by telling issue was not mentioned properly in their RMA paper in spite of discussing with the technical guy even i have given video.

3rd it was hardware issue.CPU usage going 90+.

This time they told they will replace the board and this i got(pics)
Worst service ever.
NOT GONNA BUY MSI AGAIN FOR SURE.

BUT AGAIN I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST MSI PRODUCT.ITS JUST THEIR SERVICE WHICH IS AWFUL IN INDIA

I got the money after i told i dont want to take CN as they dont have Z97 board in stock

Is there any brand which provides good service in India? Companies outsource their service to people who are already handling several other brands and are least interested in providing fast and good service. How can it be acceptable that a customer has to visit the service center multiple times and also wait more than a few days without the replacement product to carry on with his work?

Had exactly the same experience. I gave them a new board and I got it back dusty, scratched and two CPU fan pins not working. Sent them back and waiting to see what happened. I think it is just plain shoddy, the way treat people who have bought expensive boards.

had the same experience with my 4850 that was doa, only it was from xfx and the service was rashi peripherals.

almost all brands will have horror stories like this, some more than others. which is why people come here before making a purchase anyway.

they never give a new replacement. it's always a refurb which is most likely the faulty product somebody else brought in and they botched it together enough to POST and palm it off on the next guy with a faulty product.
