I have just received an email from MSI India that their warranty is valid for 3 years from date of import and not from date of purchase.

I have a mobo which was RMAed in October 07 purchased on Dec 23 2004 - They inform me that its out of warranty in June 2007.

Implying if you happen to buy a mobo which has been laying in stock for a year, you will get only 2 yrs warranty.

That's bad... i don't understand one thing: If a company can give a nice and comprehensive warranty is US why it can't do same in India. Why the preferential treatment... why sub-standard products... why such a high cost

^not always..but im guessing americans get better warranty cover is because of stricter laws there..in india the courts are so slow it would take years before a decision could be reached..and regarding inferior quality stuff..dont think so in terms of computer since most of the stuff is made by biggies like intel, nvidia etc and they have pretty good QC..in terms of TV's etc yeah we do get older technology

We get inferior treatment cause WE ACCEPT IT and do nothing about it. I can bet plenty of us have got stiffed about warranty, I would like to hear people on what they did about it.

hmm......ill chk this thing out tomorrow guys and get back to you....coz i got no such news.....btw , Indian, can you just forward me the mail to my following id

Its same with Rashi as well.

Checkout your XFX/ASUS product boxes. Warranty date is clearly mentioned. And its month of import.

Usually none of the stock is older than a month or 2 these days. Its hardly 15 days most of the times.

This applies to everything from Asus boards / cards, XFX mobos and GFX cards as well.

One reason is because in India there is rarely a proper official bill. So they base the warranty on the serial number, whose import date they know.

Ok , i chkd it out..MSI warranty from import date is of 38Months and that too to the distris, our warranty is 36 months and from the date of invoice of the distributor that the retailer gets.....

Hello

Thank you for the info. I have one question: I lost my Mobo bill can i get the warranty if i register it online without invoice? Please let me know coz i want to sell my mobo but because of no invoice i dont know what should i do. Thanks in advance.

Is there sticker of neoteric on the mobo? I bought a msi mobo few months back it was imported by neoteric , i called the no on the sticker and asked about warranty , they told me that warranty is given based on serial no and in case of no bill they calculate warranty period as 3 months + 3 years from date of import. You should call their service center and confirm.

Hello

Yes it says imported by neoteric and import month is july 2010 and bought in july only. Thank you for the help so do i get the warranty without bill also?

Regards

This is funny. I don't beleive this. I had an 8800GT with some import date of 2006 and I bought it on June 2007. After almost 3 years the card started dying and I gave it for replacement and they checked the warranty through my bill. Not the date of import and then I was given a new card after 2 weeks.

Consumer protection Law is not implemented strongly. Also who already bought MSI can't do anything but OTHERS just DON'T BUY MSI BOARDS/Products & move with Gigabyte, Asus, Intel etc.

Seriously? :|

You are a Fail Emperor.

I've been using MSI gfx cards from 2005. I never had any problem like this till now. Whenever I've given my Card for RMA or repair, they have verified the warranty with the bill. NOT WITH THE DATE OF IMPORT.

MSI provides warrany on the basis of Serial no sticker on the product .Bill is not required if you contact the service center directly.
