Guys,
I have been using MTNL DSL 5 GB plan but the bandwidth is limited so wanted to switch to MTNL 1 Mbps unlimited plan. Here are some of the questions
1) I have been getting great speed on my existing plan till i download 2.5 Gb which i guess is FUP limit speed around 1 Mega Byte per second (yes its correct)
2) Whats the FUP for MTNL 1 Mbps unlimited plan ?

Wow...

Does anyone knows how long does it take to change the plan in Mumbai

They used to change the plan in 3-4 days of submitting request before.

Now they always change plan on 1st day of new month. So make sure you make your request good 10 days before the month end.

And for Pete's sake double check if the plan has indeed shifted to an unlimited one, before jumping to the downloading part. If you incur an heavy bill, then kiss the connection good bye or be ready to cough up a huge sum.

I have a 384 kbps UL plan in Mumbai and i am paying 750 rupees + taxes and i get speeds of.....sheeshhhh, now that is something i would not want to tell :P

I've been using it for quite sometime now.
I have experienced minute long disconnections several times a day but I guess its due to the fact that the net is always active for some reason or the other unlike in limited plans.
Otherwise as such never had a day long disconnection or something like that.
Mtnl 1Mbps+Static ip+RS-Premium=:hap2::hap2::hap2:

Plan changes take place only an the first of every month and you couldn't have chosen a better month to change to a new plan :bleh:
Make sure your previous bills are paid before making the plan change request otherwise it might not take effect and you'll have to wait for another month. This is the worst part of being with mtnl, just hope that you'll never have to interact with them again, and the way things are going for me,I doubt you'll have to.

Whats the download speed you get ? and are there FUP which you have experienced ?

No FUPs on mtnl.

The download speed meter for IDM is a bit skewed and show higher than its supposed to.On an average I download 100Mb in 15mins.The test results below are inline with what I experience on an average daily.

There is no FUP limit for your current plan

Problem with MTNL is their upload speed. They just dont understand that upload speed is as important as download speed(for skype, uploads etc) and should at least give the end user 512kbps on higher plans. They say that they will give, but it is normally around 210 kbps only.

Shit the download speed for Flashge/torrent are more than 1MBps but only 60kbps on Browser whats the problem >

You have a 1 Mbps plan so you should ideally be getting something around 128 kBps speed on whatever applications you use.
What do you mean by 1 M(capital)Bps speed you getting ???

For torrents you should get 100KB/s(I have a 2Mb/s connection and I get at least 201KB/s using uTorrent). To check the max speed you can get, download any driver from nVidia's site. If your Torrent port is open and torrent is working fine you should get the same amount of speed given to you by nVidia's server(+/- 10KB/s).

No at the moment i have 2mbps plan and i do get 1MBps download speed on torrents (yes its correct)
