Since this Thursday, I have been unable to connect to the internet. The problem to the best of my knowledge, happened quite suddenly when I was browsing the web, and I lost the connection. I had not done anything to the router or installed anything on the PC. Did a system restore too.
On using the Windows troubleshooter, I get the message - Windows can't connect to the device or resource (DNS Server) and 'DNS Server is not responding'. I've tried changing the DNS servers to Google DNS, the one's MTNL gave, Verizon's DNS and "choose DNS automatically".
I'm using the D-Link DSL 502-T Router that MTNL supplied me with and connecting via the Ethernet port. I have tried connecting with USB and to my laptop and the problem persists.
Since Friday was Diwali, I called MTNL up on Saturday. They noted the problem after doing all the initial troubleshooting steps (plug-unplug the modem etc.) Nothing has happened so far.
Any advice? Is it a line fault where I should wait for the MTNL engineers to sort it out or a problem at my end?
