MTNL modem MT882 gone kaput??

my m/c was ON since friday morning connected to net thru my triband conn. my modem is MT882. Yesterday evening i noticed that the USB light stopped blinking and had turned off. i tried resetting modem & rebooting m/c but nothing worked.
 
cont from above post...

the machine refused to detect the modem and the light never turned on. i tried with another m/c but still not working. The connection thru LAN was not working right from beginning.

So guys the modem had indeed knocked off. My dad went to the exchange and got it replaced by Dlink DSL 502T

Please let me know how good is this

Is port forwarding (for torrents) possible (and easily) on this. Sorry for such questions...am bit of noob when it comes to DSL modems routers etc.

Any good bad points about this modem ?

This one has a heating issue and would lock up on even small voltage variations (even from UPS). So think of it that way.

^^ so i shouldnt be running it continuously ???

What do you mean by lock up ??

One more thing...my bro yesterday complained that in between the net connection suddenly died..dont know what the reason is,.. may be because of this modem. :(

Yeah the Dlink 502T freezes.. ADSL and Ethernet lights will go blank suddenly in the middle of a download. (donno what causes it)

I'm planning to buy a router from Lamington and then i'll return this DLink crap.
