Hi people.

Don't know if you guys are aware but MTNL is currently running a good offer for new triband connection.

Introduction

i think the 249/- monthly is good for economical users like me ! more over they have waived off the montly modem charges under this.

I am thinking of getting the wireless modem for my lappie from them since its just 600/- rs onetime once and no montly rental for the modem while the wired one is 300/-one time.

please advise.
 
I don't know why people don't get it. The 249 combo plan has a 400mb limit. On a 2mbps line you will easily cross 1gb a month with 'normal' surfing. So you will be paying about 600 bucks extra each month for your usage above 400mb. What you can do is try it for a month and see if it fits your usage pattern. Then change to another plan if it's not economical.

Personally i would suggest either the DSL_Unlimited_599 512Kbps at Rs. 599/- or the DSL_Unlimited_Combo_495 320Kbps at Rs. 495/-

wow..i didn't know that ...thanks ! but can you make it more clear for me please ? i mean the 2 mbps burst will download any website really fast on typing the url in the browser but will it transfer some extra kb's or something to my pc ?

no extra kbs just that with a faster connection, load times will be lesser and you will browse the the internet more thus increasing your usage. Anyway use the plan for a month and then check your usage and then change your plan accordingly.
 
Lol....leave Triband........they are giving 752kbps for 750/- ??? Thats what we pay for mere 256kbps here in Kolkata.

GO TO HELL BSNL.
 
^^Why?? Don't you think we are overcharged here in Kolkata??

Here in Kolkata we don't have a higher bandwidth affordable plan. All are like 1k monthly or 2k monthly etc.

Only the cable operators provide resonable priced plans(Alliance, Wishnet etc). But as usual they are not reliable.
 
Don't understand why these ISP charge differently for all cities. I am sure they are always on the profit side even with the basic plans.
 
Local ISP sucks!

Alliance totally sucks.

Too much downtime,poor fcking CC and even not so cheap.

I have to pay Rs.600/- for UL 256kbps and no double speed at night.....:(

Hows the 320 kbps plan?? Wats the download speed for 320 kbps plan???
Also wat monthly rental do u get including tax nd etc etc..
m planning to get for myself...
Plse provide me the best inputs whether its worth the price u pay or should i plan for 512 kbps plan?? same queries here too..monthly bill incl. tax??? download spped??
Also r these prices inclusive of modem, landline phone nd everything??

Totally Agree. I've used Alliance for a yr. Totally sucks.

For about a month i got 2mbps speeds (~235k download). Then they capped it to the plan speed. It dloads at 40k. Does almost 140mb/hr and ~m3gb/24hrs.

Costs, did you have a look at the mtnl page? everything is pretty clear there. tell me if u still don't understand and i'll try to explain.

Well, there's always the possibility of apps which 'call-home' and download auto-updates...they might eat into the download limit, unless internet access is tightly controlled by a firewall.
