MTNL starts Advance Security Deposit from Jan 2012 ?

Hello Friends,

Just got my MTNL Broadband bill & found it shoot by Rs.500/- as MTNL Mumbai charged ADVACNE SECRITY DEPOSITE period from 10-1-12 To 31-1-12

Can any one explained what it is & logic behind Advance Secrity Deposite for 21 Days?

PS: MTNL net loss rises further to Rs 929.77 crore do they set to COVER the loss by demanding ADVANCE security deposite or do they want to stuck users from switching to other operators who gear up to provide BoradBand services.

Do MTNL give interest on Rs.500/- or more collected from exisiting customers? why we lend them money wihout security when they charging minimum Rs.50/- for Router as a Rent? Do they let off the Router rent?

Time to start thinking to shift from MTNL

I think I read on the bill that MTNL does provide an interest on the deposit. I think it gets adjusted in the bill or something like that. Or was it for Reliance energy....??

Just talk to them on 1509 & they replied that You book this plan under Rs.500/- OFFER but in actual the plan was Rs.1000/- so NOW pay balance Rs.500/-

Is this legal?

First MTNL give advertisment on Radio & news papers to take advantage of Reduced Rate & Book new line for Rs.500/- (Actual Plan Rate was Rs.1000/) & once your subscribed for it nearly after 17 months they starts demanding Rs.500/- again saying you paid Rs.500/- less

But that happened with the modem rentals as well. When I booked my line, I was told that there are no modem rentals for unlimited plans. I have been on an unlimited plan for all this while but they still started charging the modem rental some time back! I ignored it coz I calculated that paying modem rental @ 50/month was cheaper than buying a new wired ADSL modem as I was planning to shift to wifi soon and the setup required was gonna make the modem redundant anyway!
 
In my this month's bill there's an extra charge of Rs 150 mentioned against 'Monthly CPE Charge'. Now what's this? I was never charged monthly rental for CPE till now. Even if they started charging it, isn't it supposed to be Rs 50? I'm on 888 plan.
 
May be they collecting last 3 months charges for Wire CPE & may be 1 month charges Rs.150 for Wireless. MTNL emerging as most unrliable telecom operator as you never know when they charge you & for what

Mine is wired router so it might be last 3 months charge or maybe they made the rental as Rs 150, who knows. Will observe my bill for next month and if it's still Rs 150, time to say bye bye and shift to Fivenet 10mbps with a 500mb 3g connection as backup. Only reason I'm sticking with MTNL with slow plans is because it always works 24x7.
 
I would say stick to MTNL. A friend of mine uses 5net at pantnagar and he plans to move away soon. Reason : after completion of 2GB download from DC, the connections closes.

Same thing happened to me as well!! And I have a wired router too.

Anyways, I think I'll just return their router to them. I don't have any use of it since I have my own since a few years, I just kept it with me because modem rent was free anyways.

Can we just go to the nearest exchange and return their router?
 
Okk... I got my current month bill today. The buggers have charged me 500 extra as well!

I am simply gonna pay it though... Coz out of the host of different service providers I have previously tried, MTNL is the only one that offers complete peace of mind.

Bloody Frauds Thay have Charged Me Rs. 100 Extra As CPE Charges Too, Even Though I Am Not Using Their Modem.
