I am applying for an Mtnl Triband connection...My knowledge about DSL is almost nil....My doubt is this....
I have an existing MTNL telephone. This phone has been provided with intercom facility for all the homes in the building.....So to dial an outside line (i.e. Numbers outside the building), I have to prefix 9 before the number.....
When I pick up the phone I hear a long unending tone.....I get a dial tome only when I press 9.....So inorder to dial the number 55884433.....I have to dial 955884433.....Will this facility affect the broadband service in anyway.....I have no clue abt this....I thought asking the TE members would be more sensible compared to asking mtnl customer care.....
Please help me in this....Its urgent...
I have to buy the router accordingly...

eh...
Do u have a Direct Landline .. i.e. a Dedicated phone for your house ?
the line that is shared as u mentioned is probably via some EPABX system of your building, which although CAN be enabled with ADSL, im not really sure if it is only a single line or it has multiple lines.

in short....
Do u have a Dedicated line for yourself, if yes, its straight, u can get ADSL on it.
if Not, find out how many lines are actually connected to the EPABX box, and then we can talk more.. ! but that is going to be messy !

:)

Yes...I have a dedicated line.....We had the same line long before we had this intercom facility.....The only difference after the intercom was added was that i required to prefic '9' before every number i dial......Even my telephone number has not changed.....
