MTNL Wireless ADSL modem help

Am planning to shift from my local cable net (due to regular disconnection problemo )provider to mtnl as have their landline (DSL_Unlimited_Combo_495/ DSL_Unlimited_599) :ohyeah: ... am new to the stuff like routers n others :S ... i have 2 pc's one in my parents room (new 1) n 1 in mine(Old 1) :(

Want to use MTNL triband Broadband connection on my old pc in night (for downloading/surfing :D so tht parents r not disturbed due 2 Sound n LED light :)) and at day time in my new pc..

so was thinking of using MTNL Wireless ADSL modem (so tht i can shift at night easily) My queries :

1) is above thingy possible in any way (using Normal ADSL Modem/Wireless ADSL modem). :huh:

2)Do i have to buy any other extra stuff other than mtnl provides ;wht r da charges plz specify

3)Howz the download speed difference in wireless modem if distance is about 15-20 m :S

4)have heard tht modem provided by mtnl are no good :no: ;ppls buy netgear wireless routers (if ny plz recommend)

5)howz da bill provided do they specify seperately the mtnl plan used n add it in telephone bill (a pic would b gr8) ;)

6)Lastly Howz the service :rofl:

mods plz shift it to appropriate section sry

Also slightly offtopic, I dont understand why this post is titled "urgent" (misusing these could make your posts lose value).
 
1, Yes it is possible, just ask to get a four port modem. If you are ok with running the network cable around, you will not need Wifi modem either, you can do with a wired four port modem.

2, No I do not think so. Though you will need lan cable or wifi cards for your PC.

3, Not much difference. I have done it and can say from personal experience.

4, My modem is running for almost the last 2 years, absolutely no problems.

5, Yes there is a section in the bill with all internet details like bill plan modem rent etc. Service tax however is billed in total.

6, Service is good. I have only had one instance of downtime in an year ever since I moved from Sify to MTNL.

after posting i thought it belongs to Broadband forum thts y i had edited at last for moderators to shift it

Urgent in the sense tht i am going to apply 4 it nxt week... Neway i had removed it bcoz can't explain it 2 every 1 da same reason :@

Thnx 4 the reply M8..

I have searched on ebay.in about Wifi card and most are >Rs1000 and onboard tht means i need atleast 2 for connection (Rs>2000) will think of network cable option
 
i would suggest staying away from pci wireless card . ... they are not the best and connection with it becomes real patchy even with a good wireless modem ... best option is to get USB wireless connecters they work better .
