I have a honda city exi model which i guess is 8 yrs old - in a damn good condition because it is only used on sundays, I require a good music system, good speakers, and a good amplifier, while hearing music the windows will be closed i.e. dont want too much bass, my budget is 25K, my parents are goin on the 8th of next month to new zealand and the will have a stop over at singapore airport transit, so they can buy the system from there or new zealand
pls. suggest the best config available budget can be increased to 35k as the prices will be cheaper there, thanks guys in advance

HU - Pioneer 7950/6950/5950/3950/2950 (Depending on what you need)

As for the speakers, for that budget, try getting Rockford Fosgate with a good amp and sub. Wait for LBM to arrive though :D

Well for a basic setup. I would suggest you going for a good pair of coaxials speakers on rear and good components in front with a decent amp.

Amplifier:- JBL CS60.2 = 6K max

Rear and front components go only and only for following brands:-
(Hertz/JBL/Alpine/Blaupunkt)

HeadUnit:- You can go for end number of choices that are available today in market. There are touchscreens DVD player though way off your budget. You can go for Pioneer 7950UB with USB connectivity. I have the same.

I dont think you would need a subwoofer now. Since you are not much fond of bass. Good luck

whats lbm, what about focal and kicker are these good companies.........bump
the focal is a good brand based on Sound quality products but the kicker is based on SPL ( loud music) products.....so if you want to listen to music then I would prefer focal..........but I would say one thing more try to listen to them before buying...........they are bit on the expensive side.....

Mods need to add the word "CAR" at the beginning of the topic title.

For a while i thought this was bout home hi-fi's.

i tested the kicker 6X9, don;t remember which model #, but my take on it was that it produces boomy bass..lots of bass, but bad bass

try going for BOSE speakers.... they are little on the expensive side but they truly can reproduce high quality sound.. i can tell frm experience as i too have a bose system.

lol i dunno so much in detail abt bose car speakers but i do have a bose lifestyle 35 music system at home.. and it works pretty damn good.. been using it for couple of years now. and i dont see bad sound quality from them.

^ How much did you pay ?

I can get you a system for whatever you paid for the Lifestyle 35, sounding twice as good. And if you still can't make out the difference, then, well, lets just say, Bose needs more customers like you :D

^^You should say u can get a system that sounds twice as good for one quarter the price. Now that would be a real comparison .

I think you have not listened to some good music systems till now thats why you are praising the bose so much.......also there sound is a average one....thats why they dont mention anything....like wattages, S/N ratio, Freq response......

How fussy are you as a listener?
I would take a budget of 35K, spend about 15K on the HU + speakers, and spend the rest on sound isolation. A second layer of bitumen and under-carpet will cut road noise by 20dB, so you get a lot more detail and even a cheaper system will have a chance to impress.
I find the biggest problem in car audio today is how much sound from outside gets in and how much from inside gets out.
That said, it is possible to spend your entire budget on just the HU.
You should spend more money on speakers at the sitting location (if you drive yourself, better speakers in the front). All HUs will cap out at 17 watts a channel, no matter if they say 40 or 50 or whatever dumb figure. Some can struggle up to 25 watts at reasonable quality, but if you want more power, then an amp is the way to go. Even a very basic 4-channel Sony amp will do about 35 watts a channel, which is much more suitable for music.
If you want to fit the HU, amp and all speakers into that 35K budget, they'll be all mid-to-entry level stuff (there's nothing wrong with that BTW, in spite of all my apparent snobbery my car system is a very basic Sony HU and 4-speaker setup, and that too wired out of whack 'cause I don't have the time to go get it fixed).
Just so you know, prices abroad may not necessarily better, but you may get a wider range to choose from. Most stuff available here is just as cheap, plus Rockford/Fosgate etc are available as long as you know where to look.
6x9 is a no-no for me. Round speakers are the only way to go, too many problems in the midrange. For only bass they might be OK but those are very badly designed. Components wherever possible, a good amp, and good wiring are the key. Those things push the bill up very quickly.

Thanks For The Replies Guys Mostly Going For Pioneer 9800bt, Dad Said That We Will Upgrade The Speaker System Later, My Hu Is Currently Spoilt
