Today, earlier, ESET has released its daily av update, ver 5418, which has caused headaches to system admins and users alike worldwide. This update has caused issues to windows xp sp3, win 2003 and 2008 R2 servers alike. This update, crashes the system with a memory read error to which u are either forced to agree with or debug. Users of ESET are requested to update their products to either update, ver 5419 or 5420. There have also been reports of BSOD and system crashes.
The main problem being that the anti-virus actually locks up your explorer and unless you hit the Ctrl+Alt+Del combo, you won't go anywhere.
Windows 7 however remains to be unaffected by this update.
