Surprised to see no threads yet on the MWC 2017 so far. The annual Barcelona event kicked off yesterday, and there were few surprises; several leaks from the previous few weeks were confirmed.
Here's a summary of day one:

1. Nokia
The most talked about tech news probably in the recent times. The iconic Nokia 3310 has been resurrected again, with a few upgrades. Color display; 22 hrs talktime and 1 month standby time; 2 MP camera; 4 different colors; microSD slot; Snake game; and of course, the ever famous Nokia ringtone - all are included in the new iteration, by HMD Global
Three android smartphones were also introduced, with the Nokia name - Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3.

2. Samsung
No mobile phone announcement from Samsung this time around. Instead, three new tablets were introduced. The Galaxy Tab S3 is a 9.7" android device, and comes with stylus in the box - clearly targetting the iPad pro 9.7. The other two are the Galaxy Books - in 10.6" and 12" variants. Both run Windows, and are hybrid laptop/tablet devices, with stylus and keyboard included. The smaller one runs the 7th gen Core M3, while the larger one runs the 7th gen Core i5. No information about the pricing.

3. Blackberry

Yeah.. BB still exists. And in a desperate attempt to stay relevant to the times, the Blackberry KeyOne has been announced. It's android, has a physical QWERTY keyboard and comes with the usual security features that BB is famous for. However, it runs on SD625, and yet is priced at around 500 USD. Wonder if it would still get sustainable sales figures.

4. LG
The LG G6 has been announced. Features a large 5.7" display, with a 18:9 aspect ratio. Still, the size remains as compact as a routine 5.2" phone, due to insanely thin bezels. Oh.. and no more modular design. :p

5. Motorola
G5 and G5 plus have been announced. No idea about the details.

6. Huawei
The P10 and P10 plus have been announced. Both advertise their camera capabilities, given that they have maintained their partnership with Leica; the P10 plus comes with a F1.8 lens.

As a sidenote, most of the new android devices introduced come with Android 7.0, which is good. I guess that sums up most of the interesting highlights of Day one at the MWC. Let's hope the rest of the days provide more interesting things to the tech world.

:)

I wish they had a 4G modem into the 3310 with a hotspot. Heck that alone would be worth 75-100 euros even if it was still running S30+

3310 I think was just some random phone which nokia slapped the 3310 brand to sell more. It doesn't feel like its an successor to 3310 ..or Im getting old

I don't think it's a successor. Rather, it is a reboot of the same old device, with just a few relevant updates.

Just a wifi module would have sufficed the vast majority. In fact, I was hoping they would provide this.

It is nothing close to 3310 - What Nokia needs instant attention from the majority of people around the world and create a Buzz - Like the legend is back etc etc - Thus they simply pick a Random Model from the previous production line (unfinished inventory) - make some resembles of 17 years old 3310 which is White Borderline etc and start calling 3310.

HMD is just cashing in on the Nokia hype. 3310 for $50? Woah. I think I can put the money to better use.
The prices of Nokia and Moto new phones could be lower. Not willing to shell out 15k for a phone with a mere SD430 chipset. I'm looking to buy the G5+ 4GB/64GB if price is in my budget. Else I might have to go for Redmi Note 4. :/

Also Moto G5/G5+ will be launched on March 15 in India.

Moto G5 Plus camera first impressions :

We are hoping to spend more time with the Moto G5 Plus soon, but after our first brief test the new model looks, like its predecessor, like a great option for mobile photographers who don't want to spend iPhone or Galaxy S money. The Moto G5 Plus offers responsive operation in all situations and very decent image quality across the ISO range. We especially liked the textures and low noise levels in low light scenes.

Moto has not only apparently placed the same 12 MP sensor with large 1.55 micron pixels, and the same record wide for a phone f/1.7 aperture, but also has appropriated Samsung's exclusive and yet-to-be-beat Dual Pixel focusing technology that has been present only in the S7/edge so far. Thus, Moto touts 60% improved focusing speeds compared to conventional phone cameras, which, together with the wide aperture should help in low-light and with fast-moving objects.
