PC Peripherals my DVD drive runs DVDs from one vendor but not the other ones

I used to buy games from a local vendor. His DVDs run flawlessly till date on my DVD drive. Recently I changed the vendor, but the DVDs he sells don't run in my drive and they give ' insert disc' error and spits out the DVD. I tried running the old vendor's and new vendor's DVDs in my friend's laptop and they both run with no problems. What is this sorcery?
P.S. the games I buy are not original. They're burned by the local vendors themselves. I think I made my point.

Is it the region code for the DVDs? Look it up. DVDs have region based locking and your DVD drive and DVDs are probably not region-free.

That is some biased DVD Writer!
But probably it seems the Writer is gone old! You can try copying the disc in your friend's laptop and then try if the new DVD is working or not! That way atleast we can come to know if the discs are at fault or the writer!

^ I dont think it has anything to do with region locks. There is another issue at play here. I would check if the DVD drive can be changed.

Tried running new DVDs in my drive afterwards, didn't make any difference.
