Hello guys,

I have some thing to share with you all. Someone might save some hard earned money after reading this.

I had a ticket of GoAir for Flight No. 162 Dated 24/05/2007 amounting Rs. 5600.00 at 13:20 which is a hoping flight from Delhi to Banglore, hoping at Mumbai. The flight was rescheduled to 14:00. We reached the air port at exactly 13:23 at the counters of GoAir. They informed us that the counters were closed and we cannot go through. The reason sought was that we had to arrive at the airport EXACTLY 40 minutes before the flight's departure. We were not the only passengers. 17 more passengers with a delay of 1-10 minutes were not allowed to board. The flight again got delayed and boarded at 14:25, but 18 (12 Mumbai and 6 Banglore) passengers including my sister who was going to Banglore were not allowed to go through. The GoAir people did not even bothered to answer to any queries to our questions. No heed to cancel or refund the ticket amount was given either. One of the smartest answers we got was from a staff member. She reminded us, "Sir, You are not travelling by a train. This is a airline and you have to get to the airport in time". I asked her that then why GoAir does not put the Flight time - 40 minutes as the boarding time, she was answerless and said "Sir, this is something you have to talk to the senior managers". Senior managers were not even available. So customer friendly.

This is in sharp contrast to a recent visit of mine to Mumbai, where I was travelling by Kingfisher. The flight was at 9:40 in the morning and I, because of a traffic jam, reached the gate of the airport (not counter) at 9:30. A guy from kingfisher escorted me from the door and also took me to the aircraft by a cargo trolley!!

After having such a horrific and embarrassing experience with GoAir, I talked to some people and found out that people had even more dreaded experiences with the same airline. I came across atleast 7 incidences of the same airline. One of the incident is where a lady with some problem in her lever was travelling with GoAir. The flight was in the queue to take off. The lady wanted to go to the toilet but was forcefully made to wait till the flight boarded. She was assured that the flight will board in 5 mins. Instead, the flight boarded after 45 minutes, causing a severe pain and breakdown for the lady. She was admitted to the Mumbai Airport Hospital because of severe kidney problems.

Guys, please spread the word and make people aware of such service providers.

Also, can someone tell me any site where I can make a complaint against the same?

I travelled via Go Air in Jan this year, flight was from Mumbai back to Delhi. Once we boarded the plane, the flight was delayed for 15 minutes because some of the passengers were late! The flight captain even said that they were waiting for some other people to arrive and only then they would take off. I guess they've done a complete U-turn now.

Pathetic is the word for it... both GoAir and Air Deccan are useless, good for nothing airlines. I had a real bad first and hopefully last experience with Air Deccan last year. On the day of the flight early in the morning, the retards msg me that the flight has been cancelled for the day. This comes by SMS and they ask me to call their callcenter for a refund :@. Customer service is a term alien to them. Since that day, I've not touched these budget airlines with a ten foot pole. I only use Jet/KF as both of them are completely reliable and won't screw up like this.

Thanks for sharing your experience. By posting here, you are making a difference. At least we know that we can avoid issues with such service providers. 40 mins is way too much. These low cost carriers try every trick in the book to cheat passengers. They overbook and then prevent people from getting on board. Recently, Air Deccan was caught indulging in these activities. Then there's the inevitable delay/cancellation/postponement of flights without so much as a care to passengers' plans. Just cuz they're lost cost does not give them to right to totally disregard our plans and schedules.

Take it up with GoAir mgmt and make a big stink. Hope you get your money back in the end or at least another flight date.

GoAir just lost my business.

GoAir management does not want to listen anything. In the end, its the management staff who is making all such stupid rules anyways!!

Air deccan is also one of the worst I had a sting with, but only in terms of flight timings and their small aircrafts. But atleast they dont have such lame rules of coming "EXACTLY" (this word was stretched a thousand times by GoAir staff that day) 40 minutes before the departure.

Jet and KFA rule!! The best experience in India.

Well, I was travelling in Air Deccan to Bangalore, for the Bangalore 26th Jan Meet remember?

They delayed the flight, and some 3-4 officials came in the Plane, and ask for some lady, who had booked her ticked all the way in July or something, and demanded that she Pay Rs.5000 as an addition to the ticket Charge. A few passengers got up and went to help her out, including me, and after 20 mins, the issue was resolved.

Bullshit I say, Why wasnt she stopped earlier? Why not at the boarding point, Why not at the earlier Ticket Collection counter.

Air Deccan, Go Air, everything are bullshit.

Of the budget airlines, Indigo seems to be good so far with whatever limited expereince I or my friends have had with them....

This, I find hard to believe!

AD is bad when it comes to CS but they wouldn't indulge in something downright illegal for a 5K additional fare

IIRC, Indigo and KF are the only 2 airlines that don't have in their entire fleet. Everybody else, including Sahara/Jet have either second hand or leased planes.

This policy also applies for AD retards :@ I saw the same thing happen to several people who were a bit late :@

yes yes about AD canceling their flights happens all the time :P last time my moms morning flight was canceled so she had to take the one in the evening

yea rite jet is good :P i have had pathetic experiences with jet also.... its all in your luck if your experience is good or bad ...all flights are same

wtf they can be sued if they do ne of tht sort of bullshit.... even if she was on a staff ticket still the officials have no right to charge the lady like tht once she has acquired the boarding pass...

To bring you some cheer ...

"MRTPC initiates action against six airlines" ...GOAIR is in this list....

Cracking the whip on airlines that bait customers with low fares but retain the amount in case of cancellations, the country's anti-monopoly watchdog has issued notices to six carriers, including state-run Indian.

According to sources, DGIR, in its report to the MRTPC, said that refund policies of Indian, Go Air, Air Sahara, Air Deccan, Spicejet and Alliance Air were unfair and prejudicial to the public interest.

These airlines allow their customers to travel by air at affordable rates but unjustified costs were imposed on them if they were to cancel their tickets, the sources added.

The DGIR observed that such a practice was an attempt by the airlines to enrich themselves by making gullible customers forfeit the ticket amount, the sources said.

As regards low-cost carrier, Go Air, DGIR found that it had no refund policy if cancellation was done 24 hours before the flight.

That was in the papers a few days ago. I think it was TOI.
Anyways, point is that these low cost airlines to keep upto their running costs, have a limited fleet of planes. When a flight from say Kolkatta to Mumbai lands, the same plane with flightnumber changed and crew change (most of the time), is used to go from Mumbai to New Delhi. The actual difference between the time can be from 30 mins to an hour or more.
As the air traffic in the recent days has increased a lot, these flights tend to get delayed leading to the delay in the other flight paths.

Now, the matter that has been taken up is about the cancellation, as far as I see it, these ppl need some money to keep themselves running and rely on passengers (or running a full plane) to recover their costs. However, this doesnt mean that they actually dont refund anything. Thats really sad on their part.

I have travelled by GoAir, Indigo, Spicejet and AirDeccan. And must add that none of them is exceptional. Possibly Spicejet and Indigo are better than GoAir which is better than AirDeccan.

But I also agree to the fact that all airlines these days due to sheer traffic are maintaining low standards. Recently in the papers, there was this article which showed newspapers strewn across the floor of an Indian Airlines/Air India (dont remember which one) floor where there was a leak of water in the flight. The person who took the pics said that the whole plane was stinking and the toilet wasnt even worth entering.

So, all in all, the condition of most of the flights these days is pathetic to say the least.

Indian Airline flight from Lucknow to Delhi.

you can file a complaint in District Consumer Redressal Forum, claiming to return the fare along with damages (you need not pay any court fee for this). You can also file a complaint with the MRTP Commission to take action against the operator.

not only Go Air even Air Deccan I have heard such incidents.... :(

very very bad.. but what to do.. no other go... no other flights are so less-fare ones...

i guess its all on luck if you are travelling via these flights. KF is the best i have flown in. best service and hot air hostess :D

so far flown once with indigo and had a very positive experience.. cheap fares doesnt equate to cheap service in this case :D

GoAir, Air deccan = bullcrap. If you're going for a budget flight, go by sahara or spicejet. At least they don't charge you for a glass of water.

Jet is of course, better than all of the above but it also costs almost 2x more, so for a short haul flight, I see no reason to travel by jet, unless you're loaded of course.
