Hey,
For the final project of this semester in college, I decided to do a motion graphic. It was an experimentation based project and I'd never done anything along the lines of animation, so tried my hand at it and came up with this --

English vs. Japanese Typography on Vimeo

Please do have a look and let me know what you think! I've been quite lazy with it, so it's not exactly perfect. ;)

Me like! Though I'm a bit confused by how it ends. I mean it starts with a face off & ends with a jugalbandi? Is that how it's supposed to be? Not taking anything away from your work, but just curious as to the concept. I do understand that it's a college project & therefore there surely are restrictions within which you've got to work, but could the concept have been fleshed out a bit more?

& I'd also like to know what software you've used for this. KIU.

PS - Loved the music!

Great work. Everything is good IMO except the flags. The flag looks too artificial for the video and also when the brit flag waves, even the pole end of it moves. Think some randomness in the waving of the flag might help.

Thanks @everyone! :)

@kippu - you can check out more of my work at Deathdart on deviantART :)

@Sudarshan_SMD - yeah, the second sound track is from Naruto :D Great music by Toshiro Masuda

@kidrow - It was always meant to start as a sort of war thing and end as a jugalbandi, but the transition was planned out to be smoother. I ran out of time and got lazy towards the end. Tight deadlines. ;) But I wanted it to be funny, and I got good feedback on it for now... Maybe I'll add to this at a later stage, but for now I'm done with it hehe :D The softwares I've used for this are Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects and Media Encoder for converting it to flv.

@random2 - Thanks for the feedback.. I'm not really happy with the flags either, but being a first-time After Effects user, I had no idea how to fix the issue with the bit that was attached to the pole ;) I could very easily add randomness to it, but that causes the attached end to completely detach from the pole!! I'm still looking into a fix for this, if anyone knows how to do it please let me know. :) I've used the Wave Warp (?) and Turbulent Displace effects to create the flag.

Very nice concept - Make music not war , at least from what i understood.I liked the running animation for the 'A' (made in flash ?). For that flag issue of yours you can do it manually do it frame by frame else you can do it using a superior plugin one from the boris pack if i recollect correctly. You can add the weight of the wave motion at different points i.e. at the pole it will be 0 while towards the edge it will be 1. That way the transformation should only affect the latter.
Btw awesome camera shakes.
Waiting for more ~!

Thanks :)

@kaiserbreath - This is made in After Effects using elements from PS and Illustrator. :) Would take ages to do in Flash. Will try to find those plugins from the Boris pack; thanks for the tip.
