ohk ..i ve been trying to get this game run smoothly ..but no matter how much i try i am facing some or the other problems.

ive already gone through the sticky GTA IV tweak guide..but still the same problems .

hence i am opening this new thread :(

Basic config : Q6600+P5Q PRO, Gskil Pi black 4GB + HD 4850 (all stock)

monitor : BenQ E2200HD (1920 x 1080)

i have installed GTA IV using the original dvds ofcourse.

ATI Catalyst 9.1 installed.

(had same problems even with 8.12)

using this command line file to play @ the highest settings.

Code:
-norestrictions

-nomemrestrict

-novblank

both the GTA IV patches installed.

ie: title update 1 and GTAIV_Patch_V2

no problems with frame rates..getting constant 30-35 fps.

here is the problems,

1)

few buildings and structures keep building up while i am moving ahead..

its like..there's no building few seconds back, then suddenly its there.

2)

cars appear to be gliding few inches above the ground.

looks very very irritating ..and i dont feel like playing the games with such bugs.

3)

once i come out of the apartment after saving the game.

the whole surrounding texture other than me ..is screwed up .

thw whole graphics looks something like this.

SCREENSHOTS :

i think these problems were not there before in installed the GTA IV update patches 1 and 2.

is their a way to uninstall the patches ?

i am not sure whats causing the problem..is it the patches ?

the ATI drivers, command line file or something else ?

Another thing..

is this could be because i am using FRAPS .?

but why would cars fly because of FRAPS:no:

no other games giving me problems...

this is the second time i have installed GTA IV after doing a clean install of the ATI drivers..and installing latest 9.1.

Sometimes i feel like throwing the game dvds out of the window.

the bugs are really very irritating.

Hmmm weird.... I've got a similar config except for the card, where your's is much better anyway and I don't really face any of those issues. Slightly lower frame rates, 30 - 33 normally. Card at stock.

Haven't made any changes to the settings though, installed and played after adjusting only resolution.

I face same issue w/ 4850, Ritvik U have nvidia card, when I tried GTX 260, it was day/night differance. Faheem dont use Patch 2, make things worse, we have similar rig.

ohk thanks a lot ..

.any way to remove the patches installed ?

or should i do a total re install of the game ?

blocks building happens because of draw distance i believe. set it higher and problem will go, but FPS will take a hit.

draw distance is at 100 :p.. FPS is still in 30's ..but block buildings still there to some extent..

i am using patch 2 and Fps is more stable now constant now

Game fixed !! yippie ..i think it was due to all very high settings that i had kept.

and by mistake i had installed patch 2 first and then patch 1..that might have caused problem.

so i reinstalled patch II .

lowered the settings to medium\high and now the game is looks superb.

no cars flying and texture problems .:)

though few structures\buildings still get constructed while i am moving.

but its minimal ..maybe normal with the game :p

@Fah33m. Just try with a lower shadow setting and the problems go away. Everything else can be kept at a maximum. I just installed the 2nd patch, and things got royally screwed. No bridges. it was like i was in Jetsons, with all cars flying around in a line in the distance over the sea . Then i lowered the shadow setting to high from Very High, and things were back to normal. But since i have already finished the game, it was for tp.

i really liked playing GTA games. No wonder its very famous it just add some sort of the bad side in you thing. Love to annihilate those hundreds of people on the game. But not in real life.
