gpu = graphic card....

pls post the following info...

Motherboard - ?

Processor - ?

Ram - ? (how many modules)

Graphic card - ?

which psu (powersupply) -?

in short, post ur pc config

could you pls tell computer config(cpu, mobo etc). check if all connections are proper.

for beeps help try this Computer Post / Beep codes

or http://chem.pitt.edu/facilities/bios_beep_codes_list_v3.pdf

GPU is graphic card. check if it is in proper slot ie properly connected.

try going barebones ie connect only display but not any peripherals like hard disk, cd drive , lan card, sound card etc. sw on machine. if display comes then it is due to faulty pci card or PSU.

try connecting to onboard after removing graphic card. go barebones. see if computer boots up. else you have to remove each ram module seperately and check. gone pls check with other psu if possible.

Sometimes it might be due to the CMOS battery also mate . Since your board seems to be an old one its better to have your CMOS battery replaced.

In my case my hdd, psu, ram, cpu everything was working fine but no display randomly . One fine day i replaced the CMOS battery and it has been working fine till this day.

So i suspect it to be a battery issue. If its a GPU/memory issue you would have heard appropriate beeps. But since you say there are no beeps, then you can try battery replacement as an initial step...

Even i face this problem in my old pc (p4,865gbf,256+512ddr)

whenevr i start my pc the hsf, other fans, hdd etc works, monitor led just blinks, no beep sound

and then i press reset button whgich turns off the fans

after which i again press power button then the pc boots(monitor starts, single beep etc..)

sometimes i have to repeat this procedure i mean switch of the power a several times to start the dumb pc

after reading this iam damn sure many would say PSU is the culprit..

even i knew of this and changed the psu in vain

the problem still persists..

i even dissambled the whole damn pc and reassembled ..again in vain

+1 .. I am facing exactly the same problems with my system. Even if my PC starts up like as in this case m writing , either Windows refuses to install softwares or gives any othe kind of services errors . Tried following till now : 1.removed both RAM's , cleaned slots and plugged again . Vain ! 2. Removed my GPU and pluuged in the monitor on onboard GPU connector .. VAIN ! 3. Yet to try , what do u suggest guys , or should i take it to the service centre ?

Config:

P4 3.0GHZ , AsRock 775Dual-915GL Mobo , (1024*1+512*1)MB RAM , 8500GT

First and foremost unplug the computer and touch any metal surface in the case so that you can get rid of the static charge, pls avoid working on carpets.

Try clearing the cmos, you should be able to find the jumper pins in your manual, or else take the battery out, and hold the power button for a couple of seconds should get rid of all the remaining power in the board. Place the battery back in. See if this works.

Go as Vivek krishnan said

Take the board out of the box and place it on a non static surface like the static bag that came with the board.
Just keep the following plugged in:
cpu, ram(one chip), psu and monitor, if no onboard vga then the graphics card. You see the fault could be any of the attachments, you will have to eliminate them one by one.

You got to be a little patient ! , this is time consuming.
Wish you luck.
