My Problem with Airtel

So I have a billing dispute with Airtel. But every time, the duffers at the back-end close my service request without a logical explanation.

I made a payment on Sep 7 on their portal using my Citibank Debit card. The payment process never completed, as the website froze after I entered my Debit card details and hit OK. However, money was debited from my savings account. Generally, in case of a failed payment, the money is credited back after a few days. I waited till Sep 27 and this never happened. So I called Airtel and lodged my first complaint. Since then, it has been a cat and mouse game with Airtel always trying to throw the blame on my bank. I have called Citibank and also the payment intermediary CCAvenues to investigate this from my end. Both of them maintain that the payment was successfully made to Airtel. I have got this in writing from them as well.

So where did my money go? Are the engineers in the back-end siphoning off money from unsuspecting customers? Why is Airtel telling me the failure is at the bank end and harassing me, when I used their portal to make the payment and have furnished proof of the payment going through? Shouldn't they take this up with CCAvenues?

I have escalated to the Appellate Authority as the final resort. I am seriously contemplating going to a consumer court because their inefficiency has caused me a lot of headache. I have sufficient proof as well. Anyone facing similar billing disputes?
