Hi Guys,

Need some info and your valuable suggestions..I am planning on taking BSNL 3G in Hyderabad. At the same time I don't want to get a new sim. Now that Mobile Number Portability(MNP) will come into effect from tomorrow I want to change from Airtel prepaid to BSNL 3G. I know that I can change from Airtel 2G to BSNL 2G.. But is it possible to change from Airtel 2G to BSNL 3G directly. If possible will I get a new sim(usim for BSNL 3G and how long it would take for all this process to complete...

Or would you guys recommend me to go for a new BSNL 3G connection without opting for MNP?

Thanks in advance

I applied for a switch to BSNL 3G. I was asked to pay the 3G general charge (120/-) , but was not charged anything for porting .

Any idea if this charge is required, or can one port to BSNL 3G directly?

Why would you wanna lose your existing number? You can migrate directly from any existing 2G provider to BSNL 3G. Go for the USIM. It should take around 5 days for the operator switch.

Maybe porting charges are waived off in case of BSNL. I'm unsure. Check BSNL's website.
