Again ..jus kiddin bro...

compatibility problems? Interesting considering Sony/Lite-On have the widest media support. If your drive doesn't support certain models, RMA won't work since they will replace it with the same model and hence the problem will persist.

this laptop is like 2 years old now so hence i never asked before buying a dumb laptop. well all other laptops pcs read the cds apart from this laptop.

I don't know your level of expertise but are you sure your that your putting in CDs only and not DVDs. Are you sure your laptop can read DVDs?

As far as CD writers go, some CD writers cannot read CDs that support burning at 10X. But these writers are very old. a 2 year old laptop should not have these issues.

Most probably ur 2 yr old sony drive is coming to the end of its illustrious carieer:)......So better get it check out by the support guys from Sony.....Do u still have a valid insurance....maybe if it is a valid defect maybe they will change it for u......

becks..it's a weak/dirty and near busted lens....

try cleaning the lens carefully (you'll get tonnes of guides for that)

if that doesn't work, it's time to change the drive
