N00b connection of 2 computers.

Hi guys I am trying to swap files from my old PC (which I am going to sell to a friend) and the new one. Both the systems are running Windows XP. Both the
systems have an inbuilt LAN card. I also have an ethernet cable. So what is the easiest way to transfer files from the first PC to the second?
