Looking to get a home server up. A synology NAS would be perfect. Or 7700 or above intel cpu + mobo - a complete desktop in a compact cabinet is ideal.

I have Asrock C2750D4I with 4x8GB DDR3 ECC RAM. The board has 12 SATA ports - ideal for a low-powered NAS build. Imported from Amazon USA originally, and comes with the original box. Have been running it as a ZFS-based NAS. PM me if you're interested.

I have a i3 3220, 8GB DDR3 RAM and a simple mATX H61 board.
Doesn't have many SATA ports or any SATA 3 ports, but it has PCI Express 2.0 x16. I wonder if you can plug in a card to convert them into SATA ports. Should be enough bandwidth.

Let me know if this interests you. Don't think it's worth a lot at this point. 4000 for the combo seems fair

Have a Netgear RN104 ReadyNAS 4- Bay Nas
Can deal with the nas barebones or with the 4x 3TB Seagate NAS Drives
No warranty on both, but 100% working.

Take a look at proxmox + hdd pass thru + xpenology + regular desktop. Like keeping cake and eating it too. ;). Go for regular desktop imho. Only disadvantage would be the (bigger) size.

Yeah got a slick deal on i5-9500. Got an entire cabinet around 15k. Threw out the Cheap PSU and replaced it. I'm planning on going with unraid.
