can some one help me to setup a server from behind a nat.

ok i wanna setup a server i have it all running on my system it works if i use the hxxp://localhost thing but if i use it through the dynamic dns client and update the url and try it from there it doesnt work

im sure its a nat problem
can someone help me to solve this
im using a dsl502-t then modem is configured as a always on.. not as a briged mode.

come on... nobody knows a thing about nat...
or nobody wants to help....

isnt this a place where we share and we help out others in need...

a )there are a bunch of nice guides on port forwarding (For dsl modems and regular routers)in the Networking section

b) you will need forward the http port (80 or 8080) from your WAN to your local LAN assuming ur ISP allows forwarding HTTP ports (Many don't)

c) More details would be appreciated..If you post details of your LAN setup, I'd be glad to help

ok first im on airtel... so i dont think they block stuff

and ive got a dlink 502 connected to my system thru enet interface.
the router is on 192.xxx.xxx.1 and system is on ...2

the router is set to use dhcp and auto assign ip givin a static ip always to the system. other than the modem and system there are no other devices on lan and modem is directly connected to the system. no intermediaries.

i`ve tried going to the modem web config and in there there will be a section called virtual servers
there i put up a new user defined virtual server called xyz
and forward all ports in range 80 to 80 to a portmap 80
isnt that supposed to be all..???
ofcourse save and reboot..

and forward all ports in range 80 to 80 to a portmap 80

to what ip?

fwd port 80 to port 80 on the virtual servers tab

i dunno if airtel blocks forwarding on http port 80,

however, i have fwdd a few ports (10001-10002) for remote RDP and for azureus (torrents) on my airtel connections and both port mappings work perfectly fine

ive set up port fwd for torrents and that works fine...

but this time i tried ports 80,81,8080,8088,8081

and it didnt work

if i use them as localhost:port it works...
