I had mentioned in my earlier post that sometimes I get National DVDs as DVD-R and sometimes as DVD+R.

I use National DVDs to dump my TV recordings and temporary data on it (since these DVDs are cheap) and have some older versions of National DVDs in my collection. I found out that the Mitsubishi made DVD-R and the Sony made DVD-R and DVD+R can be written at 18X or 20X (depending on the DVD Writer) but the MoserBaer made DVD+R can go at max 16X.
I wanted to ask you guyz, why is there so much variation in a single companys DVDs?

Also which one of them is better version? DVD+R or DVD-R?

^ The media codes of 1, 3 and 4 look resemble first class discs, but I guess some scans will tell if they actually are originals.

I used to use National too before I got my TY spindle, seemed to be pretty good discs, never check the media code ;)
