I need the following 4pin to 8pin CPU power connector.

I asked some shops at lammy and they quoted me 150bucks.

is it that costly?

Any shop where i could get it for cheap or is it rated for same cost everywhere??

It could be as expensive as 150 INR. :)

You can as well power your motherboard with a 4 pin connector. The 8 pin connector ensures added stability during overclocking. Very well, if your board has a 8 pin power connector, it makes sense to invest in a power supply which has an 8 pin power connector than do some jugaad and make one.

I am talking of the infamous 'CM Ex 600w' power supply actually. :P

Yup, these power extensions are expensive since they are not in demand. I had been trying to find a 24 pin extension all over lammy but they only have 20 to 24 converter.

I think these connectors cost a couple of dollars or more, excluding shipping charges, even on international shopping sites.

So i don't think the local price is that high when compared to those.

Secondly, as said earlier by desecrator sir, your motherboard mostly will work with the 4-pin connector plugged into the correct part of that 8-pin socket.

Most good and even entry-level PSUs have 8-pin connectors now, that split into 2x 4-pin for motherboards that have a 4-pin socket.

All the best with your PSU though. :)

There is no use of using a 4 pin to 8 pin extenson. You rather get a 4 pin to 4 pin one only. Just adding an extension with 8 pin out is not going to change the quality or reduce the voltage ripples.
