Hi guys, fed up with my CRT for playing games on my Xbox 360. Want an LCD monitor to take advantage of the widescreen resolution of the games.

Now my budget is rather tight. I wanted a second hand 22" monitor, but I guess people would rather not sell them so soon. So my only option would be a new one I guess.

My budget is about 13k. Can I get a decent 22" monitor at this price. I was going to use the Dell GO in the Hot Deals section, but it is now closed ! :(

And if I buy directly from Dell online, the price with taxes and delivery will be almost 15k !

Also is it really worth it to spend more than 5k and get a 24" monitor ? I would be sitting rather close to the monitor and I heard that a resolution of 720 will look the same as 1080 on a 24" monitor and it would take a trained eye to tell the difference. Is this true ? This monitor will be used for gaming only and not for watching movies.

If you suggest a 24" then I will delay my purchase for another month.

Please help. :)

Viewsonic VX2235wm-5 for 13700/- in Delhi and that is last month's price. I think the Dell SP2208WFP 22" has ghosting issue(seen on youtube). Dont know anything about AOC...seems an alien brand to me.

AOC is largest OEM supplier for lcd monitors in the world.:ohyeah: :ohyeah:

^^ Thanks, AOC is a decent brand actually. They make some good monitors also. Dell is out if it has ghosting issues.

So should I go for the AOC 22" or the Viewsonic ? I heard Viewsonic has bad customer support. Or was that LG ? Can't really remember.

Also how much does a 24" LCD go for ? The full HD res seems tempting, but if it costs more that 18k, then Ill stick with the 22" only.

EDIT : I would stay away from Acer ! Too many bad reviews on the net. In fact I am yet to read a good one. If the Acer was retailing at something like 11.5k, I would have gone with it. But at 13700 its not worth it IMHO. It also seems LG is highly recommended here.

yup even i have heard some bad comments about the viewsonic after sales. but both aoc and viewsonic comes with 3 yr door 2 door warranty. if u r hell bend to buy aoc or vs, inspect the unit physically to make sure it doesnt have ghosting. since LG's specs are quite promising im going for it :D besides i have read a lotta good review about it.

Hey u ppl knew tht AOC previously used to make monitors for IBM but after the lennovo take over they came out of buisness and now they have entered the retail market!!

Thanks guys, people are so helpful on these forums ! In just under an hour I have already received so many replies.

If AOC has a door to door service, I am going for them then ! Carting around a 22" monitor to a service center is not something I will look forward to.

Will check AOCs website and read reviews on the 22" monitors that they have. I will visit Croma to check the monitor, but the Malad Croma had only one HCL 22" monitor and that too for 15990 !

EDIT : Just checked AOCs website and all the 22" monitors have 16.7 million colours and 5ms response time ! This is good news. I have gotta find where AOC will be available.

Oh man, saw that AOC supplied wrong information and the panels are 16.2m colours only. But forget that. I just read their warranty policy and its so crystal clear and transparent that for this alone I will buy AOC products.

Taken from AOC's website.

Sorry guys! It is not the Dell SP2208WFP in video review. It is Dell E228WFP. my bad.... :ashamed:

And please guys.. somebody tell me what is the price of HP 2245w/HP 2208w in Delhi....

Called up some dealer of AOC products at Lamington Road. It is readily available and in stock (2216SW) for 13500. Not a bad price. Will in all probability go for this monitor unless I read some bad reviews of it.

@Painkiller - lol !

thats pretty much the same as viewsonic. At least viewsonic will replace your monitor for a single dead pixel if it is near the center. Samsung will replace it if any dead pixels are present (anywhere)

throw some light on LG too.

^^ That is the problem with LG, they don't have a transparent warranty policy. I checked their website and read their warranty policy and it was very obscure at best.

Also they have a carry in warranty, so thats not so good. 22" monitors are not lightweight from any stretch of imagination.
