Need a 3.5mm extension cable.

Any particular brands to look for or any generic cable will do?
Will using one noticeably affect sound quality?
Does the length of the extension have any effect on sound quality?
Can it introduce any 'noise' into the audio output?

I will be using it with a pair of X3i's.
 
I have 2 genric ones, from lammy, but both failed within a month. I can hear only through one earphone, that to if the extn cable is held in a specific way.

Isn't there ne branded ( read: well built) cable?
 
Never had any problem with generic 3.5MM extension using since last 6 months.I bought at 15 Rs only.May be geek ashish got unlucky with extension.
 
Any reputable companies selling such cables in India?
I really need them to be sturdy and not just die whenever since I will be moving around a lot.
 
Even i had my first cable died ( sound in only one ear ) .. second one is working much better even after lot of rough use . Btw you can also get male/female 3.5mm jack and some good cable to connect them yourself . Make it as sturdy as you want :P
