^^ Intel Core i7 2600k ~ 17000/- + Noctua NH-U12P SE2 ~ 3900/-

Intel DH-67BL ~ 5800/- OR ASUS P8Z68M-PRO ~ [no idea on current pricing due to fluctuations and no field visit to the local computer market]

Corsair XMS 3 4GB x 2 ~ 3500/-

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB ~ 3900/-

nVidia GTX 560 Ti OR GTX 570 ~ 14900/- OR 22000/- [the nVidia plug-in(s) are better optimized for work output and Fermi runs games well too, PHYsX and CUDA are other added advantage, CUDA is especially helpful in MentalRAY renders]

Seasonic SS850AT ~ 6600/- TheITWares - One Stop for all Gizmos!SeaSonic SS-850AT 850W 80+ BRONZE Certified Power Supply

NZXT Tempest EVO ~ 6400/- OR Corsair Carbide 400R ~ 5200/- NZXT Tempest EVO Review - Page 1/6 | techPowerUp / Corsair Carbide 400R Review - Page 1/6 | techPowerUp.

Windows 7 64-bit Profesional edition [legit copy] it is worth it -- Windows 7 Professional, Buy Windows 7 Professional Online in India.

-- AMD BullDozer has been a disaster as on certain points it is a compromise in all directions and unlike the old Thuban's does not perform as well at multi-threaded tasks.

-- The Core i7-k processor will be a better solution, also power consumption is in check.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the config bro, but could you suggest a gigabyte mobo instead of asus !?
and just maybe if were to go for a radeon gpu, which one would you suggest!?(curious)

^^ For Radeon, the problem is it does not support many productivity applications, like the ones you might use, e.g. -- MentalRAY in MAYA is now a nVidia subsidiary. Mentalimages, the guys who developed MentalRAY was bought over by nVidia in 2007.

Also nVidia CUDA architecture is geared towards making most algorithmic applications offloaded from a CPU and take use of the CUDA processors on your graphics card.

Here is some information on CUDA and its applications + MentalRAY for MAYA / 3Ds Max --

CUDA,

NVIDIA Advanced Rendering: mental ray.

Anyways, if you want RADEON then ~ AMD HD 6950 2GB [from MSi / Sapphire / HIS] ~ 18500/- is what I'll get, if it a reference design card, you might try to get lucky and crack it into a HD 6970, roughly a jump of around ~20% in most games ans assorted applications.

I still recommend you get an ASUS motherboard, as the service has improved in certain parts in the country. Also ASUS has the advantage of providing the first UEFI on its motherboards, therefore messing around in the BIOS are old memories [by the way GIGABYTE sucks at this] --

ASUS UEFI BIOS Review - Introduction - What is an UEFI? -- ASUS UEFI.

Is it EFI or not? Gigabyte's Hybrid EFI BIOS explained - Rage3D Discussion Area -- Gigabyte Hybrid BIOS explained / discussion.

Also biggest thing, I don't track Gigabyte so actively as ASUS / MSi. Sorry 'bout this :ashamed:

Hope this helps, Sire. Cheers!!

1tb Seagate is now between 5K to 6K

Arre are you serious, bhai!!! :S

Yup, its 5.5K here.

Also to OP go with either P67 platform if you want better overclocks, or Z68 platform for using the SNB IGP for video encoding w/ QS.

Finally, go with nVIDIA, makes more better sense as it has CUDA support unlike AMD. Most of the apps will have support for CUDA.

@alpha17
wow NVidia it is then....
btw i also heard about ati stream and i guess its pretty much like cuda..
heres the link: ATI Stream: Finally, CUDA Has Competition : Introduction

and yes il go with asus like you said because of the UEFI (thanks for enlightning me about this bro)
also i would like to know if air cooling would be sufficiant if i overclock the cpu.....would you suggest water cooling!?

^^ No stick with the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 and you'll be fine.

ATi STREAM is there, but ATi / AMD doesn't have any dedicated hardware STREAM processors on board like nVidia's CUDA architecture, which has been better leveraged by nVidia with respect to productivity applications.

So as an animation student with an AMD card and with experience of nVidia CUDA, I reaffirm you get the nVidia cards without doubt. Sure they are power hungry, but when it comes to performance sorry no dice AMD. Once nVidia releases Tesla [c. Q2 2012] I'll switch loyalties, to the green camp.

Infact Intel has its own HD 2*** / HD 3*** IGP's supporting something called QuickSync which it seems is much better than both other options [ATi Stream / nVidia HD decoding] -- for more on the same, here are links -- Intel Quick Sync Video - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia / Sandy Bridge.

Hope this helps.

thanks a lot for the info bro...
so i think its intel i7 2600k and nvidia then...and ofcourse the asus mobo for me now.
one more question(sorry to bother you man, its just that im very inquisitive)
can i buy the nvidia quadro for this rig!?its a workstation card i know...but will it fit or do i have to change the whole rig for it!?
also if it fits in , how good will it be at games!?

^^ Without going into detail, the simple answer is NO. It is not good. It "may" get you by depending on the game.....but that's about it. So if you want to game, get a GTX 560 Ti OR GTX 570.

What software would you use for heavy 3D modeling? You might want to wait just 2 more weeks till Intel releases Core i7 3930K. Take a look at these benchmarks: Benchmark Results: Content Creation : Intel Core i7-3960X (Sandy Bridge-E) And X79 Platform Preview. It is 42% faster in Cinebench (relevant if you use Cinema 4D) and 25% faster in Blender than 2600K. It will be 15k-20k more (considering higher price of X79 mobos), but over 90k that is upto 40% higher performance for <20% higher price. Most 3D modeling software can use 6 cores extensively. And once again, depending on your software Quadro can have massive benefits. The entry level Quadro 600 is twice as fast as GTX 580 in apps like 3dsMax and Solidworks. However for gaming it is slower than GT 430.

Yup,you can't game with the quadro,it's designed for applications only.

NO Quaddro cards in the FX--48** / 5*** series can play most games with HD resolution and the eye candy cranked up [personally experienced Crysis 2 and NFS Shift II on them], but those cards start ~48000/-, so it is pointless recommending them in OP's case.
