PC Peripherals Need A Gaming Rig !!

guys...I need to build a brand new pc..mostly for gaming...would pefer AMD..
budget around 35 40k...Can neone please suggest a good config..???
I live in calcutta..which is the best place to get ur rig from in cal..???

and is this the rite time to go for good graphics card..especially
with the prices of the 7xxx series expected to fall.
 
Do u need a monitor as well? And do u want a DVD writer? What approx HDD size do u want? After u answer all these it would be easier to give u a config.

Anyway until then here are the base components

Athlon 64 3000+/Opty 144
Asus A8N-E mobo
2X512 MB Transcend UCCC RAM

Gfx yes the 7 series is gonna fall so dont buy a high end card now, wait for a few weeks.
 
well..i dont need speakers...need everything else though...
and which is the graphics card gives u the best bang for ur budget...
guys please pour in your suggestions....
 
Well, this is exactly why I started this thread. Gonzoo, check that thread and then ask here for any options of changes that u would like to make.

Asus A8ne 5.5k
2*512 trancend 4k
BIG 7600GT 14.2k
SG 160gb sata 3.8k
Benq 1650 3k
Samsung SyncMaster 798MB - 6.3k
Total comes to around 42k a little over your budget. You might need to add a little more to get a psu and cabinet. So either increase your budget or sacrifice on the GPU. However a 7600gt sounds like the best deal to me right now.
 
well i went through that thread...i need people to suggest a good configuration..

also these prices would have changed by now..

Plus i need the info about good dealers in CALCUTTA ..and prices in Calcutta if possible..

thanks BLADE Runner..but are BIG cards good enuff...as compared to xfx gainward etc

It isn't the cards you should be worried about since they are the same oem as other card makers such as the ones you quoted. Basically everyone is getting oem cards directly frm Nvidia for now atleast the 1st-2nd batch. You should be worried abt service and support, so make sure you have a BIG dealer/distributor near you. Else no problems with BIG, a lot of members here use their cards. XFX might have their 7600gt ready though i have no idea of their prices, so if you go hardware shopping simply inquire about all available brands. If this card isn't available a suitable alternative would be the 6800GS.
