@a2mn2002 Sire, considering your needs I would recommend that you wait for AMD Trinity based laptops to release, if you cannot wait these laptops are worth a look --

HP G6 -1313AX ~32000/-

I think Acer and ASUS are the other companies that offer AMD APU based systems in India, the advantages of these laptops are --
  • AMD APU is a better performer than the Intel Core i3 mobile processor.
  • Better IGP unit built into the system, capable of most current generation games at medium -->high settings.
  • Better power gating and power saving features, hence longer battery life than the Intel laptops with a discrete GPU.
  • Cheaper than the Intel based laptops with a larger screen [15.6" inch vis-a-vis 14" inch].

A few reviews for the APU --> AnandTech - The AMD Llano Notebook Review: Competing in the Mobile Market / AMD Llano A-Series APU Sabine Notebook Platform Review - AMD A-Series APUs Arrive - Llano - Legit Reviews.

After spending a couple weeks with the AMD A-Series APU, I must say that I am very impressed by the performance that I am seeing on the Sabine platform. I knew that it would be more powerful than Brazos and the E-Series APU's, but I wasn't expecting such a big difference. The GPU performance of the A-Series APU is hands down the selling point for this platform. It's hard to believe that the APU has that much GPU muscle inside and in a package that is just 35W to 45W TDP.

Battery life is huge when it comes to mobile devices and when you use something everyday you don't want to be tied down by your battery. The AMD A-Series APU has battery life on par with the Intel Core i5 'Sandy Bridge' processors when it comes to DVD playback (AMD lasted 1 minute longer), but far outperforms their processor when it comes to gaming. When we were gaming on the Intel platform we pulled the power during a game and the performance of the game didn't change and the battery died in 75 minutes. We did the same thing on the AMD Llano notebook and when we unplugged the laptop we noticed the FPS performance decreased. AMD has some power saving measures taking place when the system is unplugged, but even though performance dropped the frame rate was still higher than the Intel system! The AMD system lasted an amazing 120 minutes on the battery when gaming, which was 45 minutes longer than the Intel notebook and both batteries are similar 6-cell batteries.

Hope this helps, Cheers!!

You do know that nVidia OPTIMUS is a convenient name for graphics switching. Basically when you will be gaming the GT 540M will be drinking power correspondingly and when you stop gaming it shall go back onto the onbaord Intel HD graphics. Both ways not an ideal solution for you.

Can you give me the link that shows that the Acer laptop can last 4 hours whilst gaming and at what settings.

More on nVidia OPTIMUS -- Optimus Technology / Nvidia Optimus Review - Notebookcheck.net Reviews / Nvidia Optimus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The technology however is plagued with a variety of issues that cause it to not switch to the more powerful GPU, defaulting to the integrated video card even when the dedicated card is selected. This is a major issue, especially for people with gaming laptops because it effectively renders their powerful video cards useless.

Hope this clarifies, Cheers!!

^^ So which one should i go for??? TimeLineX series is gud in battery.

Go for the AMD Llano OR upcoming AMD Trinity based laptops on offer from HP, ASUS and Acer.

I think out of the above HP has the best service network in India, followed by Acer and finally ASUS. A few other companies that might Llano / Trinity based laptops are -- Sony and Dell.

Here is a preview for the AMD Trinity chips, for more information on the same read these articles, here and here. They will release tomorrow w.r.t. to 15[SUP]th[/SUP] of May in America. Will expect them to be in mainstream circulation by ~Early June.

Hope this helps, Cheers!!

@a2mn2002

Wait for Trinity and you're never suggested to game on battery, rather whichever applications/tasks are heavy on load should always be used while in A/C. This saves battery from extra wear and increases the life also. Also you must be aware that in TimelineX series, battery is not user-removable, and if you game 4hrs on it continuously, you'll end up running to service centre for battery change every 6 months.
