Hi, I am looking for a laptop in 20k range, any suggestions ?

Budget - about 20k

Purpose - Browsing, watching movies etc

Size/weight - atleast 14" screen size, weight doesn't matter

Brand - doesn't matter but should have good build quality

I had started a thread about 20k laptop but I feels i Can go with 25-26k so starting another thread, recommendation please

  • What's your Budget? 25-26k
  • What will be your primary usage for the notebook be? web surfing/movies
  • What size and weight considerations do you have? 15.6" or 14" will also do it
  • Any brand that you prefer, or any brand that you detest? no preference
  • Any other considerations? may be i3 processor and Home Basic pre loaded

Asus K53TA Laptop is selling for Rs.26000(with 2GB DDR3 1333Mhz so add 2GB more for Rs.550).

It is beating Corei5 2nd Gen and even Corei7 2nd Gen Quad in most tests.

Graphics Performance is off the charts for that price range, check out the passmark scores for it. Win 7 rating 6.9, lowest subscore is of the HDD, mentioning this just for noobs.

And just look at the fan following supporting for it in the above link. They've modified BIOS and released stable drivers etc... for it too. Go for it eyes closed. And guess what that thing is so well built that it's staying cooler than most of the non-discrete graphics Laptops in the market.

I was also looking for something in a similar budget. All the options provided look great, but they don't come with windows. Need to buy a windows laptop for my dad for email, browsing and excel. I live in a different city so I wont be able to install windows for him. Can up the budget a bit for preinstalled windows.

So far, I've found this Dell , which seems a bit overpriced - http://www.flipkart.com/dell-vostro-1550-2nd-gen-ci3-2gb-500gb-win7b/p/itmd6ay29htuwtdp?pid=COMD6AY2ZPG7DJ2K&_l=RAIjPowlGo_C6tEWbOAweA--&_r=pLhDzlRUQq9K4_WKR0dMww--&ref=181d8b56-7776-4dc2-9647-00fc58a0e4f3

And this Lenovo http://www.flipkart.com/lenovo-essential-g-series-g560-59-317252-laptop/p/itmd7kdchrssfxad?pid=COMD7KD8XSZZ8T9U&_l=czf5GIPpCptf6HRR5MdgOw--&_r=4TgDKMgrvMF8wbeKVdJHSA--&ref=220b6c93-91a0-45ae-a611-0a895febe78e

I guess the lenovo is a better option? Not looking at HP, Asus, Acer as they have below par ASS.

Till now Asus has been providing the fastest ASS compared to all the other brands and have the lowest failure rates even when compared with Dell.

Installing Win7 will surely be a concern but you can always ask the seller to do it for you for an extra charge
