Need a new Net connection!! Sify or Pacenet??

Hello everyone, especially Mumbai pals!!:)

I need a net connection at Lokhnadwala- Kandivli (East)- Damu Nagar i think- that too in the next 1-2 days!!

Checked with Airtel- great introductory offers- not there yet!!:(
They are already at Borivali on one end and at Malad on the other!!:rofl:
Might be there in few months!!:)

Only available options- MTNL Triband, Sify, Pacenet!!

For triband- no unlimited scheme- plus need new connection- so it will take really long!!
Else I am satisfied with my present MTNL NU Plan!!

So its mostly Sify or Pacenet- all that deposit, installation charge , etc sucks!!:(

SIFY- 800/- for 128 unlimited; 1300/- for 256 unlimited!!:P

Pacenet- 1000/- for 128 unlimited; 1800/- i think for 256 unlimited!!:@

I am looking for the 128 unlimited plan and pricewise, SIFY is a no brainer!!:P

But have heard about lot of complains about Sify- problems with local cable guy- their 1:8/1:16 thing- etc...- in fact few pals have already shifted to Triband!!

Also heard about that HIGH PINGs- get kicked out thing- means my plans of CSSing on TE server are threatened!!:(

So if Pacenet is better, then i will go for its 128 Kbps connection- else i have to endure SIFY!!:P

Or will try and get the SIFY 256 if thats better!!:ashamed:

All Mumbai pals- please advise!!:cool2:

Also, find out if Exatt is available if your Area...

MTNL Triband just sucks. Dont even think about it.
 
Pacenet has gone to the dogs ! Last month there was a downtime of more than 15 days or so i was informed. The pings to sg servers are good and speeds are as promised but they traffic shape for BT traffic. Rates are on the higher side as you can probably make out.
 
Sify and Pacenet both aren't that good....But between the two I would recommend Sify.....But remeber the unlimited plan u r talking about has an upload limit of 8KBps....Which means using torrents in that connection will neer give u full download speed....

PS: You said Airtel has reached one end of Borivli...WHICH END IS IT?? I HOPE MY HOUSE COMES IN THAT END....I AM FED UP OF SIFY..
 
if u want for say 1-2 year and then want to migrate to airtel(which u r sure willland in a year)..than mtnl is good i guess
 
Really..as far as i know they are quick in installing the new connection...and mtnl is anytime better than pacenet and sucking sify...

recently mtnl users faced downtime but last week i didn't face any problem...if i were u i would go with MTNL..

well if in your region pacenet sucks then sify will suck too.

The issue is most of the times in the local network and not on the side of sify. Both have good connection / pings /download speeds if its all ok. But once local network starts giving problems both of these ISP will give you problem and as they both usually use same network in perticular region its easy to guess that you will face problems on either if local network is not maintained properly by cable operator.
 
Is TATA there? If it is, its a much better option than this pacenet/sify crap. Costs 1200bucks + tax. I'm using it and have had absolutely no downtimes. However rave has a different story to tell :(.
 
IF you play online games then PLEASE don't go for exactt, they are the most irresponsible company I have ever come across.They have still not even bothered to fix my latency issues in SG servers, because of that all exactt users are suffering with 500 ping in every god damn server.
 
I am presently at Andheri East and since i don't download much for now- 'MTNL Triband NU' ROCKS!!:hap2:

This is for my friend's Kandivli East apartment, where i will be moving to as PG, soon- hopefully!!:P
 
Im on pacenet and no problems at all .I have heard it all depends on the local provider. Mine is good so i have no problems ... I get full speeds , no port blocking etc ... im on 128 unlimited ... 256 unlimited in my area is 1500 bikey

Mtnl is also good since it has no downtimes , only problem is limit . If you going to surf during the night , get mtnl night unlimited plan ... otherwise enquire abt pacenet in the area ... keep away from sify , period :)
 
Well, I don't know 'bout Pacenet, but Sify isn't ALL that bad.

Sure, it has it's downtimes etc, but it's resolved in 24 hours, rarely does it take 2 days.

Only problem is, their CS team doesn't respond to anything on Sunday, which is a really stupid thing, but eh.

And yes, Airtel is available in parts of Mumbai, they've been operating in Mumbai for around a year they said.

i used to like pacenet a lot but tht was 3 years ago tht 2 in santacruz, i had opted for the connection (64k) and the guys came the very next day and i went online the same day, the guys here(dahisar) are nice but extremely lazy :@ the network is so technically advanced that even if it rains for 5 minutes in my area i have to conclude tht some wiring point got screwed due to rains :rofl: (it literally happens)
 
Hmmm....AFAIK most of My friends who used Pacenet have either dropped their connection and shifted to MTNL 256K packs or have left internet for good.The problem with Pacenet is the High rates packages.The 256k unlimited Package out here in Dahisar stands as high as Rs.1,400.WTF!:@
The good side is that none of the ports are blocked and BT achieves great speeds.The only reason people here in Dahisar area are still connected are because of the Hub Sharing :hap2:
My bet would be the MTNL night unlimited plan or if money is not an Issue then Sify.They have great pings on US servers.:cool2:

very true... till my pacenet a/c exp on 24th i was having problems of slow browsing n pathetic downloads speeds...and pacenet's answer was there is a technical problem n they are working on it.. also pacenet 256k costs 1350/- here in dadar..

Since yesterday i have shifted to exatt 256k up n 64k down plan...so far it has been good i amgetting the promised speeds and none of the 5hrly disconnections they had before.. and the price is the same 1350/-

I think my cablewalla is eatin a lot of money inbetween...

Wat i have learned from exp is no isp and i mean no isp is good....they all resort to some cheating tactics or the other and ruin the whole thing... for a given month maybe a certain isp will give u good service the next month maybe some1 else..
 
m stayin in east side and 1400/- is very cheap i was given this chitta for pacenet and sify connection


@wraith i m crossing my fingers for Airtel i hope they remain the best isp

@Allwyn me and blade both on pacenet line unfortunately :|
