I am looking for a specialized timer but I am not sure what you would call it to do a web search to find one. I would like a timer that has for an output a normally close relay to complete a circuit but if a voltage (12V) appears on the input more than 5 seconds, the relay opens and stays open until the voltage is removed from the input. At that point the output relay closes and waits again for a voltage to appear on the input line to repeat the cycle. If the voltage is only present for 4 seconds, then the relay remains closed for the 4 seconds and when the voltage goes to 0 at the end of 4 seconds it will wait again for 5 seconds of continuous voltage being present, i.e. the time is not cumulative. It has to be 5 seconds in a row.
Is there such a beast and what kind of timer would you call it?
