Hello folks,

Now that I am in Delhi and summers have arrived, I am forced to buy a UPS. Rig in my signature, except that the graphic card is a 7850. I am no longer using 4870.
All I need the UPS is to shut the computer down gracefully, so even a 5 minute backup is fine.

Right now, I have an APC 500VA, which starts beeping as soon as i start gaming, so I cant keep my PC connected to this UPS. I went thru the sticky that explained that APC UPS are not compatible with my PSU Corsair 750 TX as the UPS has active PFC and the PSU has a passive PFC (Or the other way around)... My peak load should be around 500W, with average around 200 (i.e. when not gaming)

So, in a nutshell what UPS will work with my PSU? It must have a USB or RJ 45 connection for automated shutdown during power failure. Also, I must be able to play games when the PC is connected to the UPS AND the main electricity is there....

THanks.

I'm using a Corsair HX620 (Active PFC) with APC RS-1000 UPS, without any issues. While the PowerChute software shows it's max capability as 600 Watts, I wouldn't be too sure. I guess you will need a UPS with >1kW capacity.

If you are interested in pure sine wave UPS, APC SUA 750i and SUA1000i are two options which I can think of.
Using later for 2 years and haven't faced any issues yet.

thanks @Gryph0n.. Would you also be able to tell me how much it costs and where to get it from online?

OP go for Microtek 800VA UPS-3k OR APC 1.1KVA-5k which will be suitable and will give you 10-15 min backup time,Although i've heard APC UPS having problems with Corsair psu's so you can go for any of it.

You can use the APC smart UPS which give out pure sine wave during back up mode,You will need a SUA1500I 980watt (internal 17ah battery) or SUA1000UXI 800watt (no internal battery, uses external battery and capacity is your choice).

SUA 1000UXI costs around 11.8k without batteries .

I don't use a UPS at the moment since the last one (APC Back UPS RS-800 IN) malfunctioned after prolonged usage. The UPS lasted close to 4+ years and saw a battery change last year or so. The UPS started beeping continuously in the event of a power failure, with the battery replacement LED blinking. The enclosure overheated terribly and I chose to disconnect the UPS from the systems, unplugged the battery and shove the unit somewhere.

The RS-1000 unit Gryphon suggested might be a good start for your system considering the load and a minimum backup time to shut down the system. The RS-800 unit I had, was connected to a X360, PS3 and the LCD TV and provided close to 5 minutes of backup when the LCD and one of the consoles were being powered. So the RS-1000 should be a good bet for you.
