I am getting 60-80 marketing sms daily & I find my self helpless unable to stop these. Both my numbers are in DND list but no use its a useless service & I have no faith left in the Indian Government that they are capable to stop this.................though they want to show their assertiveness to stop RIM's blackberry service.

Do we have spam filter kind of option or some adblock plus kind of apps which can stop these or i should be able to receive sms only from those who are in my address book, or there must be some way to know marketing sms vs personal sms thus not deliver the faltoo sms.

I am willing to buy a smartphone which can run some kind of apps to block unwanted calls & sms.

Seeking help.

I have 1 Motorola L7 & another Huawei handset both are 3-4 yrs old & its time to change handset,

I will be keen on Moto defy or samsung galaxy 2 or HTC desire Z.

Blackballer is an app which can blocks unwanted calls and sms's but its only compatible wid symbian phones... I thought that u must b having a nokia phone... So thats y i asked u which phone do u have... Btw if u'll buy an android phone u may get apps like blackballer in android market...

can u please tell what kind of messages are these and from wat number do u get these messages , please give few examples , also call ur operator customer care and tell them u get such messages even after 45 days of NDNC registry , tell them the specific messages with the no from where u get , they can also help to solve it ,

and also go to ur message settings and turn the service messages to "OFF"

also check here if ur no. is registered or not : http://ndncregistry.gov.in/ndncregistry/index.jsp

I too have my number registered on the NDND but I too get some of the marketing messages quiet often. But my case is not as bad as the Op.

I get about 2-3 messages every 2nd or 3rd day. Maybe the messages are considered to be 'non disturbing'... :P

Whenever I get any promotional SMS, I just copy the details and send it the my carrier's corporate email id for the current circle. They do the needful.

No point in calling CC as u need to give them the exact message contents, too slow.

Both numbers are registered in DND via sending sms,

These marketing sms are tagged as

BA- (I assume bulk ads)

BA-website offer

BA-Dinner offer

BA- reality

BA-infrtech

BA-..........................the list will go on

They offer flats/investment/pizza/custom tailoring/loose weight/club membership/hotel discount/spa membership/website/power saver/plots at unbelievable prices the list is endless.

When I call Vodafone 111 they put me to a stupid answering machine which never gives an option to talk to any person for lodging a complaint.

Seriously dude, consolidate all the SMS's with sender name, date, time and message contents in an email and send it to your carrier's email ID.

They will register all the complaints and do the needful.

Its a lot of effort I know, but trust it will be worth it.

Copy them and paste them all in your phone notes or something instead of typing.

After syncing with outlook just send that note in a proper format

I will have to do that manually since both my phones are old & their usb port is not working, but I will contact the nodal officer via email & see what happens.

Just found this on google

National Consumer Preference Registry: Limitations on SMS delivery in India

which explains why last few day si am getting so many sms, they seem to be emptying up their paid quota of bulk sms packs.

Hope this works but I am sure this wont as in past happened.

Even basic Samsung mobiles have option to block spam messages like this :) Just add the address to the block list and no more cr@p promotional SMS :)

I bought a new smasung galaxy SLCD GT-I9003 & I dont find any option within it to block the sms,

anyway I can now see the senders number as BA-560007, what operator is this?seems some kind of web sms service which is doing it but even then there must be a way to block it.

The same sender is sending various kind of sms i have called vodafone & they say we cant stop these as we can only stop sms from vodafone numbers.

I am yet to install the blocking apps from android market.

I am not the only one suffering from this, found many complaints on this site

BA 560007 Complaints - Spam SMS

Airtel says we are not doing it others are doing it

vodafone says we are not doing it others are doing it

reliance says we are not doing it others are doing it

aircel says we are not doing it others are doing it

No one knows who the hell is BA-560007 is sending spam sms 40-50 a day as late as 11pm in the night.

I have added "BA-560007" to my address book and assigned a ringtone "silent.mp3" to it. The name "silent.mp3" is self explanatory what it plays.

If anyone needs "silent.mp3", let me know.

Ok I understand what it does but then you will have to add tomorrow another number 560006

then another number 550007 & so on.

Why the hell do I add spamster & loose my space on phone & then keep on having their sms & why should i delete 80 sms in a day when actually I only receive 4-5 messages from the real people I know.

Your method will only silent the notification but I will still see those sms in my directory & will have to dig my real sms which is a pain.

Spoke to a telecom guy whom I know & he said its quite easy to send spam messages from the internet anonymously.

later found this on the new section.

Don

Last 2 days I registered complaints on 1909 & blasted vodafone guys, every time I got the message I called them up & asked for a new complaint number, after the 5th complaint I was assured that someone will get back to me by tomorrow please don't register more complaints.

Today morning vodafone guys called me up explaining the whole mess the telecom industry is in & said that they are actually helpless. Apart from reporting the matter to TRAI they cant do much.

He confirmed that BA-560007 is a bulk sms service ID of BSNL & have reported this to TRAI & within 21 days I will get a report what action & penalty has been done.

After knowing great amount of details as to why vodafone cannot stop this mess, & how present sms protocol works I decided to install a call/sms blocking firewall from the android market.

Profile Call Blocker

Profile Call Blocker (Trial) - Android app on AppBrain

This & many other such firewall which has keyword filtering will do the job.

I set up the configuration to

block all calls from black list/private numbers

(don't block the unknown numbers if you expect anyone to contact you) you can still add selected spam caller to black list manually.

block all sms from private & unknown numbers

Now in the keyword list I took the keywords from those spam messages & added 1-1 to make my filter list (you have to be careful not to pick a keyword which maybe used in day to day sms from friends)

Voila!!!

whole day I received 27 sms (25 spam, & 2 from the bank) which did not notify (disturb) me as I switched off the notification from unknown sms & they all were filtered but saved in the blocked history, so seems this is the only solution which will work but it has its downside too as it will now block my bank sms too. So next step is to add those bank sms IDs into my contact list hence the firewall will treat it as allowed sms & will let it go to my main inbox.

Hope this solution helps others who have android based phones.

there are plenty of keyword based firewall/call blocking apps on the android market you may try other as well & report here your user experience so other can benefit too.

Does anyone know how to add bank sms IDs they seem to have no number associated hence the phone will not let you save it. I think bank use web based sms service to send these sms hence the problem.
