Seems like a good deal. This is from the review on laptopmag

The EliteBook 8460p features a 200-nit, 14-inch display. The matte panel looks fairly bright, but we had to push the lid back further than we'd like to prevent images from washing out. While we could make out plenty of detail in an episode of Glee played on Hulu, horizontal viewing angles were narrow.

which laptop you suggest for best laptop screen quality and 3 yrs warranty.

i would prefer business grade machine

The HP elitebook looks good but cant say the same about HP support, Better have a look at Lenovo thinkpad range and Dell business laptops section.

The deal for the elitebook is awesome.

HP business laptops still get decent support compared to their crappy DV and DM series.

Thinkpad T420 is very expensive.

Consider the Thinkpad L420 and the T420 from Ebay USA where you can get them for as little as 600-700 US$.

I reasearched along even more,

i am definitely not buying anything from hp stable thanks to bad screens.

Vaio has honestly spoilt me.

I am using vaio fz (1280*800 )screen which has fantastic brightness and nice display panel.

I played with toshiba protege r 835 x56 of my boss.even his older satellite laptop also had grainy display panel.

I USED HP DV SERIES AS WELL (SIS LAPTOP),LENOVO THINKPAD AS WELL BUT NOT IMPRESSED WITH IT.

So i am still in limbo what to buy.

Its tie between mac book pro 2011 13 inch ed and dell latitude e6420.

What you suggest guy?

I used this current vaio for last 4.5 yrs.so now definitely want upgrade.

I do not practice medicine anymore.

Sort of a statistician cum social workers now.

The MBP I am using is pretty old,it has a c2d proccy, but it is rock stable.

Regarding battery I still easily get 6hrs on full charge, that too on Lion.

I travel extensively with it, prepare all the power points, weekly reports and run 4-5 statistical software in it. This is by no means heavy usage, but my previous HP laptop couldnot handle it even for a year.

Oh! I also use it as download box occasionally, watch movies, listen to songs and all usual stuffs.

Bought a 11inch MBA last month, could not use it much(wife took it away) so I will probably live with this old but brilliant laptop for 2-3 more years.

Pratik, if you are not into gaming, and want something very reliable,MBP can be a very good option.

Not at all in gaming .

I guess i will ask my sister who is student in usa to do the needful.

Apple protection plan for same in student store was some 183 $.

And student get 100 usd discount.

What you say?

Fantastic!

Now I will try to confuse you a little.

Why not buy a X220? I am sure you will find a good deal in US.

It has better screen than MBP and much lighter too.

First of all decide what screen size you need, then you can shortlist from the remaining options, Dell latitude is a business class laptop from dell and comes with 3yrs Pro-support by default, so its a good option for your usage and also comes in a variety of sizes 13.3/14/15.6 inches.

If you are looking for a 13.3 incher then thinkpad X220 is the best option, even sunny27 is getting this model.

Bigger the better.

Currently using 15.4 inch vaio fz.

So would prefer same.

Trying to find deal on 6520 with 1600*900 display panel or something more than classic 1366*768.

Elitebook display is bit of crook.poor contrast and poorer visibility angles.

So i am ruling out hp totally .

Thanks agantuk and rs4

X220 is not a 13incher.

It is priced much higher than MBP in India.

1366*768 is rather poor for a 15 incher;look into T 520 with 1600*900 screen.

But it is super expensive.

Vaio SA series got fantastic display;give them a shot too.

Extremely light and pretty well built too(unlike the SB series)
