Storage Solutions Need advice on HDD speads for NAS/Download rig

Hello!

I need help in deciding what kind of setup to run for my Dl rig/NAS requirements...
My options would be.
1. Asus router + Oleg firmware with an USB HDD.

2.New Atom rig with SATA HDD

3.Old PC with Regular internal drive + usb casing

3.Older pc with IDE drives
My main doubts are,

Assuming the devices are connected using 100mbit LAN, or gigabit LAN

Will the USB read write speeds allow me to stream a HD(1080p) movie without any stuttering?
ie, will the usb read/write speeds bottleneck the LAN speed compared to A SATA setup?
PS:Trying to learn.. don't be to harsh :P

Was thinking further about this last night,

instead of using an internatl HDD + usb case with an old PC (non SATA) Can I use a Pci SATA card??

also, since PCI has a combined bandwith, will a lan card and sata card lead to bottlenecks?

i have been daunted with this very same dilemma... have gone ahead and ordered the asus 520gu... will share my experience with you once up and running
